Fall Foliage

Does anyone from the Carolinas have good foliage reports. Things seem to be progressing a little slowly here. No real color changes just , some but not alot.

Our fall colors pretty much suck down here in Georgia. There are a few spots here and there but nothing that great.

I have plans to take the bike from Darlington SC to Lenoir NC, and the on the Blue Ridge Parkway this weekend. I can give you a full report with pictures once I get back. According to www.killboy.com the leaves are just starting to turn at the Dragon.

Hey Eric,

I'm always lurking, in the shadows. He's doing wonderful for only a week since surgery. He plays Unreal Tournament all day long. He had a Dr visit today. Cleared him to go back to work monday, but no lifting, stretching, twisting, etc. Now how does a mechanic work without doing any of those things? I just hope he takes it easy. We rode bikes to Charlotte last weekend for a day. I figure if he can ride, he must be feeling better, near normal.

Thanks for asking.
Ang

So Sorry, It was a saturday morning 7am decision. So no time to arrange anything. But I did keep my eyes open for 2's. Last time when we stopped at the Aprilla dealership to look around, there was this awesome teal 2 at the speed shop next door. I looked at it, but didn't go inside to ask who owned it. I had never seen anything like it before. I'll def email next time, promise.

As for Fall foliage...

I was just off of Exit 1 in VA on I-77 last weekend. I realize that this is a bit east of you guys up in the NC mountains, but the leaves looked like they were just starting the think about turning colors. I guess the dry spell prolonged the green.

We are now just starting to get colors. Yes the dry spell has played a factor in this.

Hey Y'all, Just got back from Blue Ridge Parkway "Fall Foliage Run" on the bike. The colors are late this year. Some mountain sides were colorful, but it's not out in force everywhere. Most still gree or going straight to brown and falling. The touring club we ride with has decided the run should have been named the "Fall-Over Run" as 3 out of 8 bikes were shinney side down as some point in the weekend. 2 goldwings, and Yes, David and I on the new FJR. I had not "crashed" on a bike before, so I'm gald to have gotten it out of the way. We picked the bike up and rode the rest of the weekend, so I guess it's not too bad. Neither of us were hurt, cept for a bruise here and there. David ruined a pair of sneakers, and I put a hole in the knee of my rainsuit. The bike will need a couple of parts replaced and the side faring panel repainted. My guess around $300 would cover the damages.
But as for the fall colors, they aren't quite out yet, and may not reach peak color before it gets really cold this year. Saw pics of snow on the heigher parts of the Cherahala Skyway from this weekend.
But all's well that ends well.

Amazing what a few days or a week will do...

Down herein SC, color is good. Went for a ride yesterday to Calabash NC (north of Myrtle Beach), and the colors were very nice!

I would bet the next 2 weeks will be peak time!

Nice pictures. Thanks for sharing.
