MYTOY2- Tim Paulsen

Alright now I get what Brian was up to. I have been an MR2 lover ever since the first time I sat behind the wheel of my 87 MKI back in '95. I loved it but wanted a MKII right away. I traded in my 87 and bought my 91 back in 96 and have owned it ever since. Due to lack of funds back then (being in the Army) I performed the 3SGTE turbo swap myself unsafely in my garage- Plus back then swaps were not as common as they are today and finding a place that even knew what an MR2 was up here in WA was a rarity. I have always been handy and decided to do it on my own. I also performed all upgrades and tuning on my own. A lot of trial and error but it all worked out.
I have owned 2 other MR2's since then but sold them and replaced them with newer cars that I wanted-but still kept my baby..
I am originally from NY-grew up in Queens then Long Island, graduated HS back in '90. went to FIT in Manhatten, studied advertising design then went upstate to a small party school called Oneonta or Stonyonta as we called it. Dropped out after my junior year and with whatever brain cells I had left- moved to Los Angeles for a year- got my shit together, came back home and needed to make a decision so to get away from the same old bullshit I joined the Army as an 11B (infantry)or ground pounder. after basic and AIT, I went to airborne school and immediately into the Ranger Indoctrination Program to become and airborne ranger. got stationed up here at Ft Lewis at 2nd Ranger Battalion, went to ranger school, SFAS and a lot of other BS, met my wife and stayed up here in beautiful WA. bought my first house in '00. After getting out in '01, I followed my family legacy and got into construction. worked as a project manager for Redmond properties, built a small 72 unit townhouse complex then went to work for Equity Residential. I now run 2 downtown seattle highrises, make good money, have a total of 4 vehicles and still love my MR2 the most.

maybe dude.. if you ever lifted off out of McCord AFB or Grey army field during 96-01 then the probabilities are high. love the C-130's. not fond of the C-141's or the huge C5's.
PS, thanks for all your wheel insight-very informative and always willing to help a brother out. you are a great asset to the MR2 community.
-Peace

looking back it sounds like a cool life.. but there was a lot of "WTF am I doing"- and "WTF am I going to do".. especially after college and after the Army years. I just rode the wave where it took me and everything worked out. honestly, I never thought I'd be alive past 30 after all the crazy shit I've done in my younger years.. ..glad to be here

I was in the area 3 or 4 times dropping troops. Grey sounds familiar, but I honestly never paid much attention to where I was .......... I have all my "missions" in a little book I carried, but it's a pain to find anything specific.

np.

El Paalo: So what do/did you do? are you still active? Grey is a very small field and about 5 miles from McCord- both have great views of MT Rainier-that might ring a bell.. beautiful daughter by the way bro.

Brian: I told you on your page that you and I were a lot alike. I am also a very big collector of MR2 memoribilia.. so if you ever want to sell anything-even just to share the wealth.*cough cough*. please drop me a line.. I love your SARD MC8R collection- perhaps the most complete set in the world! very impressive. equally impressive is your 1:1 scale MR2's. you also have a great site here and I am glad to be a part of it

Everything is for sale man. I have considered selling it, but never too seriously. I paid alot for it and never really got any reasonable offers on it. Then I got extremely busy and haven't had time to think about anything.
