New member with quest.
I'm searching and searching on here but there is just so much information to absorb. Great site. I am thinking about getting an 86 MR2. It has starting problems, mechanic says either fuel pump or electrical drain on system. Battery and alt. have been replaced. Car runs for a week then dies runs for a week then dies. They bought it for their teenage daughter. HMMM....
I don't own this yet but think it might be an easy fix. 1986 4cyl. auto. I'm 34 and have driven RWD cars. Just curious as to what I might be getting myself into. I've always had a little thing for these neat cars. Are the 4 bangers quick at all? Or, do they need an engine swap to get decent power. I am just looking for a fun car that I can tune a little. Will continue reading but if there are quick answers to my questions thanks in advance for the advice. B |

if its supercharged then it will be quick...
you could always do a 3sgte swap into it... to check if its an electrical drain, after a week when the car dies, check the battery voltage... if its not 12v then you got a drain... if the price is right then get it, and use some money replace all the sensors and other stuff... just dont go directly to the dealership for those replacement sensors. you can get OEM stuff for cheaper online. |

First off, welcome to the board.
What's the asking price on the car? What needs to be done after 1 week when the car dies to get it started again?
