Hello - HAVE SEVERAL QUESTIONS ON 91 MR2

HI!

MY SON AND I JUST GOT A 91 MR2 FOR HIS FIRST CAR:

I MISSED THAT IT WAS LEAKING OIL...WONDERED IF THERE WERE COMMON AREAS ON THIS MODEL

IT NEEDS A SHIFT BOOT..ARE THERE INEXPENSIVE AVAILABLE HERE?

did you get the turbo or n/a? how many miles does it have on? where is it leaking oil?

I CAN'T TELL FROM THE TOP OF THE ENGINE NOR CAN I GET LOW ENOUGH TO SEE WELL UNDER IT.. SO WILL NEED TO TAKE IT IN. THE ONLY THING IS IT LEAKS MORE WHEN PARKED ON AN INCLINE....
THAT'S ALL I KNOW SO FAR..

Please try to turn the caps lock off when posting, it gives the impression that you are yelling and annoying to read.

But anyways, if you can't tell where the leak is originating from, my suggestion to you is clean the engine. Drive for a little bit and find any new oil marks.

Could be the oil pan or valve cover. Ask Lithia Toyota about the boot, should be able to get you one.

You should also get your son to an AutoX event to learn how to handle a mid engined car. It's generally not a great car for a first car, he should learn more about it before he drives it hard. There's a thread on this topic here:

as for oil leak, yes clean it then see or take it in to a shop if u dont have time.

sorry about cap locks.

will try and get under it more tonight... he's been driving about a year so hopefully ok...at least it only seats 2!

thanks for the input..it's in pretty soild shape for the year...love driving it..have always wanted one..
