Hey, I'm new to the MR2 community. I just sold my Honda del Sol VTEC for a project MR2. The car has been my dream car for a few years. I got a green 1992 n/a MR2 in Kansas last month. the guy said it was a manual, but when I got there I realized it was an auto. I just finished the manual conversion, except for the transmission, but that should be fixed soon as a gen 3 clip is scheduled for delivery this week!!!

I can put up some pics of the progress if you guys want. I'm planning on putting up a full thread for the conversion on toyotanation if anyone is a member over there. There are a lot of links to this site though, so I figured I should join it. thanks!

welcome. i also used to own a honda 92 hatch. i sold it and bought a mr2. this is the project car i really want but before i couldnt find anything that will fit my budget. good luck with all the future mods that you will be doing. and again welcome aboard.

thanks! how hard was it to replace your steering wheel? mine has a chunk missing out of the top..

Not hard at all, there's only a few bolts, I think 4. I replaced my '91 NA steering wheel with a 91 Turbo steering wheel. Took less than 30 minutes to install.

what did you do about the air bag?

There are two "panels" on the back of the airbag that take a Torx bit to remove, someone will have to vouch for the size, but I wanna say a 25 or 30 is the right one. Then you'll need to impact the steering wheel nut off, but make sure your wheels are perfectly straight so you can line up the new wheel easily.

yup. taking off the steering wheel is really simple. i still have the airbag in my garage. when that airbag comes off there is a plug, just unplug that. (i got impatient on mine and since there is a long line of thin wires, I JUST DECIDED TO CUT IT OFF). and by the way my air bag light is always on everytime the engine is running. never bothers me though. since the connection is taken out. unless someone knows how to turn it off. you can ask them.
