Introduction
greetings fellow car nuts,
I have purchased 3 91 MR2s. One for my eldest daughter for her college graduation, one to replace it after it was hit and totaled (not her fault, not avoidable by her) and one for myself. Daughter's is red automatic loaded (really loaded - leather, center storage, CD with premium speaker pkg, moon roof etc.) low mileage and never dinged. Dad's is red 5 speed n.a. with t-top and relative low mileage. I am interested in finding a really nice set of leather seats for my car. I am also interested in learning what the best wheel and tire upgrades might be. Previous cars owned are: 1930 Model A Ford (built from basket case at age 12), 1956 Triumph TR3 (used), 1963 MGB (new), 1968 Corvette 327-350hp (new), 1956 Continental Mark II (used investment/collector car), 1961 Porsche Super 90 (used - ballanced and blueprinted), 1978/9 Mazdza RX-7 (new from first boat load), 1987 Honda Accord (new CA commuter car), and 1991 MR2 (used). I enjoy driving, and have no brand loyalty as you can see. I have developed a healthy distaste for rear engined cars at any price. I look forward to learning a lot from you all, and perhaps I can contribute a little from my experiences. MR2 Dad |

Welcome to the Board!
You have an impressive list of cars that you have owned in the past, i hope you are happy with your new love, the MR2. Oh, If you happen to be adopting, im 27 and could use a second father, especially if he buys me an MR2 ![]()

Welcome, tell me you still own your 68 Vette? if so pics of all cars please! You are one cool dad to buy your daughter a great car like that! Are you planning on doing suspension modifications? i would recommend it while your upgrading your wheels/tires. You will most likely wanna go with staggered rims, if you do a search you should be able to a few threads on here about peoples preferences. You should also be able to find pics in the garage of what they look like. I went with 18x7.5, and am doing rear wheel spacers.

Welcome to the Boards!
Occasionally you will find some nice stock leather seats in the for sale section (http://www.mr2.com/forums/mk-2-parts-fs/) If you are looking to reupholster your's with leather, contact Bill at Leatherseats.com and tell him you are from the boards and are looking for their upholstery kit. I think they are having another group buy this summer, but he'll let you know if they are or are not. Bill's Email: billc@leatherseats.com Phone No.: 1-866-639-7328 Homepage: Welcome to LeatherSeats.com I don't know how hard it would be to reupholster your cloth seats or if its even possible, maybe someone else can chime in here. Regarding your wheels. It all depends on how much you want to spend. Volks are awesome, but I'm running some 5Zigen FN01RC. Hopefully upgrade to Volks or JLine. Many people like the Gram Lights too. You might find some nice used rims or even new rims on the f/s section as well. Fitment wise here is what you are looking at. This is from my spreadsheets so if the formatting doesn't come out right email me at Loh_Ji@yahoo.com and I'll forward it on to you: Rims Stock Ok Max Notes Front 195/60-14 17x7.5 17x8 8 +35, 7.5 +29, 7 +23 front 18x7.5 18x8 215/40-17 or 215/35-18 Rear 205/60-14 17x8.5 17x9 9.5 +41, 9 +35, 8.5 +29, 8 +23 rear 18x8.5 18x9 235/40-17 or 245/35-18 It also depends on whether you want to roll and/or pull your fenders. Good luck with your 2. We look forward to your updates and pictures. |

No. The vette is long gone, but the memories will last forever. I could publish a book (like going through a radar trap at 135mph and not getting a ticket).
