Chevy V6 in MR2...?

Hey all... I'm new to this forum... so here's a little info on myself...

I currently own (2) MKI's... both 1985... I can rebuild a 4AGE 16v in my sleep... love those motors... but... I'm a big hybrid freak and I love putting American muscle in Toyotas... I'm almost done with my Chevota 4Runner... will dyno it when it's done.. here's a link to the 4Runner... 1988 Toyota 4Runner with a Chevy 350...

Anyways... I would like to put a Chevy V6 4.3 liter in one of my MKIs... anybody out there done this already? My biggest concern is using the stock or equivalent Toyota tranny... any place to get a bell housing conversion????

Well... good to see more MR2 enthusiasts... !!

It is fairly common for Toyota V6s to be swapped into MKIIS nowadays, and I think it would be possible for a MKI, although it might be tighter for space. The guys doing the Toyota V^ swap just drill new holes, so in theory, you could get some sort of a chevy to Toyota adapter like the ones used by the truck guys and just drill new holes in that. Barring that, there are some damn good fabricators on here who can probably help you out. I'm sure one of them will be by soon to prove me useless...

Thanks...

I have recently PM'd MR220V and it seems I will go the 20v route... much quicker and easier... especially with his harness setup...

I can get my hands on a Black Top, but without ECU... anybody out there got a Black Top ECU available? Or know where I can get one?

I still would like to throw a Chevy V6 into a MKI someday... I can get over 400bhp out of a Chevy V6 under $1000 complete... no ECU to worry about either...

I'm trying to finish the 4Runner project by the end of Oct.... as soon as that beast is done, I'll start the MR2 20v project...

Sounds cool. I'd like to see the turbo V6 from the Grand National in an MR2. Those can be quite powerful motors.
