Soon to own MR2 MKII Turbo (Malaysia)

Thought I register before actually getting my own MR2 which I am seriously considering. A friend is selling it, he is a mechanic and I simply loved the turbo power of the car.

I sold off my Honda Prelude Gen3 2.0SI (N/A - Non-VTEC) because I wanted something more out of my second car. I was also a member in the PreludePower Forum. So now I'm moving out of that Forum and looking into the MR2 Forum.

For one thing the MR2 looks awesome, but is there anything else I should watch out for before actually getting it. I noticed that shifting to 3rd makes a little cranking noice, is that usual?

Welcome, Farouk!

I'm guessing by cranking you mean grinding?

If that's so then that likely means that the syncros are going out for 3rd gear.

Do you tend to notice it both in up shifts and downshifts or just one way?
