Hello all. Barry from Illinois here.
I'm a long time owner of British roadsters, but am left with only my 1974 MG Midget and my 1970 MGB/GT. In the spirit of RWD, I've always liked the AW11 and recently discovered that the 4A-GE will fit with a Corrolla drive shaft into an MG Midget..... Well, during my hunting for a 4A-GE, I found an MR2, an 86 or 87 I think, it's N/A which is what I wanted, but it has a blown head, and the owner was asking a whopping $0 for it, as long as I tow it out of there.... I can't bear to strip the car now, so I think I might just go ahead and keep it all intact, fix it and use it as a dedicated autocrosser (my Midget is getting too old), little bugger got me hooked already. It has a little rust, but nothing some Bondo won't take care of, and if anyone is familiar with British 70's cars, you'll know I have a familiarty with Bondo. Anyway, just wanted to share my sob story, sorry, no pics of it yet, but I figured that this was the place to be for information and get me started. Look forward to getting stuck in. Cheers. Welcome.
Sounds like your going to have some fun and if you don't have any pics of the MKI one yet, why not entertain us with some of your MG pics pretty please. ![]() |

No problem....
The red one (74 Midget) I bought running, but equiped it as an autocrosser, we had fun until I put a Datsun 210 5-Speed 'box in it, so she no longer qualified for stock class. The blue one (70 MGB GT) I've had for a year, similar story to the MR2, hadn't run since 1991, and I've just finished rebuilding her engine, and got her started last month...now I have to work on the hydraulics.... ![]() ![]() |

Just an update....
There were at least 3 mouse (or some other vermin) carcasses in the cockpit. The gas tank smelled of rotting vermin flesh and the radiator was gone. Too much drama for me, it'd take a dogs age to rid the smell. Never mind, I want an AW11 now really bad; enough to trade an MGB for. |
