Don't even have a toyota
Hey all I'm knew to the toyota world and figured this would be the best forum to sign up to since I'm going to look at a Mk1 tomorrow and hopefully reserve it until I can haul it back home. I come from the miata world and am currently in the business of turboing my mariner '90 miata with a 16g. I also have a 89 240sx but its just got a chopped airbox and 95 seats (also has a mad tight yo JDM nismo shifter guaranteed to add 15hp
). I usually lurk around a miata forum (not miata.net, miataturbo.net, big difference) and signed up to toyota nation but the forum is a little bit too slow paced for me. I'm one day hoping to swap in a v6 into the little aw11 because the owner says he thinks theres a rod through the iron (is it iron?) block Thanks in advance for all of the help I am sure i will receive while trying to work on yet another project car. |

I believe the MKI has a cast iron block. My friend had an older Miata and that thing could do a donut on a dime. Welcome!

welcome! good luck with your purchase!
i've got some miata experience also. i think you'll find the driving experience to be a thrilling one...that is as long as you freshen-up the suspension before coming to any conclusions: subsequently comparing the 50/50 weigh balance of the miata versus the midship. |

yeah the miata is nice to drive, its just a pain in the butt keeping all of the little stuff from breaking (like keeping the belts tensioned), thanks for the welcome wagon
i've already done some reading on it, but there is still a lot that i need to learn. I've read the up on the swaps that gimpster and paul woods have done and get the gist of what i'll have to do. There are still alot of technicalities that i don't understand though, and I'm hoping to learn a LOT about the aw11 and all of its specs before doing anything to the car. |
