Here is a good place to look around for one if you don't already know about it: Toyota MR2 Classifieds!
But good luck, let us know what you find!

I think JAICVC meant that you can get an N/A and swap the motor with a gen2 (3S-GTE turbo motor, instead of the 5S-FE non-turbo motor), just make sure you get the entire rear clip so you get the ecu, rear brakes, etc. etc. Good luck man. Lots of very very useful information on this site for DIY. Here is a good place to start: MK 2 MR2 - SW20 - Toyota MR2 Message Board and a MR2's Buyer's guide/checklist: Modified MR2 buyer's checklist

If you get a turbo MR2, it will come with Turbo ECU. I don't the brake set up changed until 93 for the MR2 N/A or Turbo. So it depends on what year you are planning on getting and of course how much you want to spend.

i see.maybe a 93 and up turbo model is what im aiming for.and spend 7k on top of that.i just want it to be reliable and fast at the same time.but if anything,is the jdm 3SGTE swap faster than the regular turbo models that were produced in the u.s?

Try to get a 94+, bigger brake set up, lsd, newer tailights/lip, and of course more rare. The JDM swap for gen2 is the same minus a JDM ECU which is tuned differently, for higher octane gas. But you could always upgrade the stock ct26 turbo to a ct20b (Stock for 93+) if you get a GEN2. It really depends on how much you have to spend and what you options you want. Turbo of course, but are you looking for a shell to build up or a turn key to modify slowly? There are many many things you can do if the money is there, JDM Swap, built motor, even a V6 turbo. Take a look at this dream build list: >>Whats your DREAM build?

Here is a link to the differences for the GEN3: Toyota MR2 Message Board Gen 3 3S-GTE Differences

More money you have to spend the more options you have.
