Considering all years.
I have a Supra and some other fun toys, but am considering an MR2 and will be researching the pros and cons. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Any major Pros and cons would be appreciated, I will be surfing from here on out to see whats best, but I really like the looks of the Gen 2. I was told that the Gen 2 had better brakes after one point, is this a major issue? and do I really want to steer away from the ones with the lesser brakes? Can the better brakes be retro fitted? is it a bolt on deal? Or will I need the whole spindle? Thanks in advance Andy Z |

Go 93+ MR2 Turbo. Wait for the one that you like the most (color, options), otherwise you will just be wishing you had it. (you may have to wait a while - I did) (if you want the 93+ brakes, just get the 93+ car... otherwise you will just spend lots of time & $$ & aggravation trying to make one)
60k timing belt/water pump - pain the the arse to do, or pseudo-expensive (~$1000) if someone else does it. head gaskets - another pain the arse mods can be tricky to get right... more boost and better intake, then you need more spark and fuel and a better exhaust. too rich? too lean? burn up a piston? over boost? blow a gasket? - get a professional shop to tune it. overall, since it is a mid-engine car, that makes service more difficult it also has a few quirks - I believe there is a special coolant fill procedure, etc... ![]() handling - its a bit different than your average front-engine/rear-drive car. be careful for over-steer. this car can get away from you. know your limits. if properly maintained, it is a uber-reliable car wayyy fun to drive t-tops are awesome in the summer so many great things you can do to upgrade it (hope you have $$$) lexus-like comfy plush interior inside a sleek sexy semi-exotic body. my 95t even has 2 factory subwoofers... sounds pretty nice for a stock stereojust my $0.02 ![]() best of luck and WELCOME! ![]() AndyS |

Sweet thanks for the quick reply. I would hold out for the color I want, but I havent seen any I really dont like. Yea know exactly what you mean by the semi exotic look, that why I like it the most.
I will keep surfing before I buy, and I got a MKIII Supra so Im all to familar with the dreaded BHG. In Supra Land all you need is ARP studs and a MHG providing all surfaces are up to par, is that the case with these? I would never pay anyone to work on my car except to change tires and stuff like that, Im a total do it yourselfer. Thanks again for the quick low-down. |
