Newbee
I have had my 1991 Red MKII MR2 for about 3 years now. My dad owned it previously and left it to me when he passed away. I live in the Wichita, Kansas area and work for Cessna aircraft company as a Technical Writer. I have not done anything as far as mods go to the vehicle as I wish to keep it as stock as I can and I am not that mechanically inclined (basic maintenance is all I am capeable of). However, I have upgraded the stereo system to an Alpine CDA-9815 with Infinity speakers and an Infinity Basslink sub. The car was cared for meticulously and is in excellent condition. I will post pictures later when I can get some free time. It is great to be part of the MR2 community and hope to talk with many of you soon. Take care and have a great holiday!

Welcome to the Board
I myself have infinity surround sound and the 10" Basslink in my car too, and i love it. I think it fills the cab nicely, and doesn't give the over "im a gangster bass" that you hear from lot of tuner cars. Technical writer huh, sounds interesting. Do you write the manuals and whatnot for the planes? Like the POH?

Yes, I agree completely about the Basslink. I prefer the "low key" bass rather than the license plate rattling bass you hear with a lot of the cars. I had considered carrying around a trunk full of Dynamat license plate dampners and giving them away to all the folks who have that problem! Ha!
I actually compile the wiring diagrams and the associated parts lists for all our aircraft. Both the electrical and avionics systems of the jets. It has its days where it is kinda dull but I enjoy it otherwise. I used to be an avionics tech on the jets before this job and actually worked on the systems. Got to be too hard on the body, trying to squeeze in all those small spaces chasing wiring problems. I appreciate you taking the time to send me a thread. This is my first time really belonging to a forum so bear with me if I tend to rattle on. I just finished putting in a cruise control speed sensor on the car an hour ago and I had success! Cruise control is now operational. What a pain in the butt replacing that sensor though. Dont ever want to have to do that again. Anyway, have a great night and keep in touch. ![]() |

Nice, sounds like an interesting job, although i agree with your statement about getting a little dull, sounds like it would sometimes.
No problem with the help, i don't mind at all. Feel free to ask questions, even if you think they are stupid. This forum is pretty chill, not a lot of rules, just a bunch of MR2 guys talking about cars and whatnot. - Dave |

Thanks bro...I have every intention of taking care of it as I know that he cherished it very much. I am slowly upgrading the visual stuff. I am not very adept in doing the serious mechanical stuff. Heck, I would give anything just to get rid of this stupid oil leak the car has had forever. I was trained as a wirehead not a mechanic so I try to do the best I can.
Take care and have a great holiday! |
