How to post a picture
For new people to internet forums, Posting a picture can be a daunting task in unfamiliar territory. Here is an explanation of how I post pictures in online forums.
First off, Where is the picture? Is it already on the Internet? If you don't know how to upload a picture to the internet, here is a great resource for you. Carpron Its a free site for MR2 owners to post your personal pictures of your MR2 onto the internet for all to see. As many others do on this site, I like to use it also. If you would like to read about the site, here is some information about the site, from the sites owner..... Image Hosting, MR2 Pic Galleries, Etc. Once you have setup your own account, and have uploaded pictures from your computer.....It's Easy! How to post a picture 1. Find the image you want to post. 2. Right click on the image and select properties. 3. In the properties, highlight the Address (URL). 4. Right Click, and Copy 5. In the post you would like to put the image in on the MR2Board, click the image button at the top of the thread typing window. 6. A small popup window will appear, right click in the window, and paste. (be sure to delete the http:// in the window that is already there, or it won't work) 7. Click okay And thats it. Once you click "Submit New Thread" or "Post Quick Reply", your picture will show up in your post or new thread. Also wanted to add, that you can do this same process to just about any picture on the internet. As long as you can copy the picture location in the properties menu (or even the address bar if the address ends with .jpg, .bmp, or .gif), you can use that picture on any forum. I find most of my pictures (like the funny ones) on google images and resources like that. Note: Steps 6 and 7 can be done a different way. You don't have to click the image button. You can simply paste the address into the typing window and type this in front of it....... Basically so it looks liks this...... Show people how to search. I hate seeing a new "Whats the best suspension" thread every other day.
Isn't it blamecanada.org? |

Really you should always host your own images, hot linking is really looked down upon by a lot of people. When you use their url you use their bandwidth at their cost. So host it locally if you can.

There is also another way by using the attachment feature on the site.
1. You need to go to advanced options for posting, and click the attachments button. 2. It gives you a pop up and you need to click browse, and it'll open up an explorer screen. Choose the file you want to upload and click upload. |

Hotlinks also leave you at the mercy of the originating site. If they were to change the actual image but leave the URL the same, you could find yourself inadvertantly posting an inappropriate image.
If you use an image hosting site like PhotoBucket, you can "save" images from other sites and then use the image hosting URL. Probably breaks some copyright rules but hey, it's the internet. |
