Question hello everyone

Hey I just bought an aw11 and am getting it this weekend. The clutch seems to be blown. the pedal is weakand feels like little pressure. I cheacked the resivor. It's full. My cuzin says it's the clutch.

the gears don't want to go in to 2 4 and reverse. My friend says it's the shift cables. Shocks are blown and the intirior is a little dirty but I'm getting it for $1400 and I always wanted one. can't wait to get this bitch hooked up! anayhow anayone know what the problem could be?

Thanks

If you can possibly back out of the sale, I'd really consider doing so. You should be able to find a good running MKI that needs little work for that price

You could probably find one on here, a nice one, for that price. I third the backing out of the sale, or talk him way down.

i got mine with a blown headgasket and it was $350 theres a little handfull down here in AZ for under 1000 in decent rinning condition, and +1 on the backing out, eventhough you might want it right now... it would cost a lot more in the long run and espically if you dont know how to work on it, labor is insanely through the roof

man, Id love to back out of the sale but That was the cheapest mr2 mk1 I could find in this area. the other one I found was 1000 and does not even run. other than that I found a super chaged with a blown clutch for 3500 and a tbar with a bad clutch again at 2600. this is the cheapest best one i could find. in south florida. See no one wants to sell these cars down here and if they do they want a rediculus price.

Car + parts + time + money = running car.

You are going save on the original purchase price but the tradeoff is that it's going to cost you more later one way or the other. Factor in the rapair costs for each of the other cars and if the math still works out, then go for it. Also keep in mind how long it'll take you to diagnose any problem, track down the parts, and then get the work done.

You need to look at the total costs, not just the initial purchase price. I also live in a part of the country where these cars are rare and/or expensive. But rather than jump on the first one that came up, I waited and was rewarded with a much better car.

Good Luck either way. If you do decide to get it, there are more than enough experts on this board who will be able to help you out. Some may even live in your area.

Hey Guys thanks again for all the responses. I picked up the car today. I am going to school for automotive and have my brakes ASE. I gata tell you I fell in love with this little car. After a true diagnosis. It seems to be just the shifter cables. Clutch works great. I was doing bun outs earlier so it grips. I still bought a clutch cuz it's just $100. I keep getting told I paid too much; even from my family. though they love the car. But this was the 3rd one I saw and the only one that did not really have a bad bad cluch. the first one I saw was 3500 supercharged w/ a blown clutch. the second was 2400 and she would not do any lower than 2100. clutch bearing was making noise and had 200,000 miles.I sold my saturd to my sister for 1900 and this lil car was 1400. I would have done an even trade for the aw11 but now I have 400 to spare and my sister gave me her 1990 accord to drive around. So I have a driving car and now My aw11 that I'm going to hook up. Im very exited. Yea she needs work but ama make her lok and feel real nice. then sell the accord for like $800 and make all the money back.

Any how I'm looking for the 20 valve to make the aw fast!!!

Thanks again I'll post pics soon.

Here are the pics of my new little monster. Cables where broken clutch is fine and just gave her a tune up today. She runs great. Did some more burn outs and bought the cables for $35 shipped!
