The MKII Turbo has always been a dream car of mine. I was never in a position to pick one up, and they were never around anyways. I have been driving a well kept MKI (Auto, NA) for a while and disappointed at the performance. Then, last week, I was driving, and this green 91 MKII drove by, I sighed, and thought, "I wish" I drove to get my car washed at the place I always wash it, and there it was, in front of me, I saw that it said turbo on the back, and yet, another sigh. I saw the owner get out, and I made mention to him, "that is nice, it’s my dream car" he said "It's for sale, $6500 or best offer" I checked it out with no hope of getting it, I didn't have $6500 sitting around. I gave him my card and got his info anyways. Then, today, I drove up the street, and there it was sitting out in front of a building with a for sale sign on it. A crazy thought occurred to me, and I called a friend who owned his own newer used car lot. Within an hour, he made a deal with the guy and is picking it up Monday for me for $6K Clean as a bell, all records, never been wrecked, 88K miles on it, and My dream is recognized...ohh, I am sooo happy.

Congrats man and welcome. Soak up all the knowledge you can from this board. It will help tremendously. Dont be afraid to ask questions either, theres no such thing as a stupid question if you dont know the answer.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I read the noob post about 16/17/18 year olds buying this car as a first car. I understand about it not being very good in snow and ice, etc. I live in OKC where in winter, we get regular freezes. I have to drive 5 MPH a block away from a stop sign and tap the breaks or I will just slide. I can't go up hill whatsoever on ice either. That’s just in my MK1 Auto NA. My concern is, Is this MKII Turbo really going to get away from me even on dry roads as apposed to, lets say a 2nd Gen RX7? or was that just a bunch of hype to warn young kids to just not hot-rod it right away? The reason I ask is because my buddy got me into the Japanese cars, who is an avid hater of hondas and drives the 2nd Gen RX7. He takes curving off ramps like they are nothing at high speeds. (stock suspension) Do I need to worry about doing the same in this MKII Turbo?

Dont go outside of your comfort zone, thats when you crash your car and get hurt. Drive it easy for awhile until you get used to how the car is gonna act when you put in input. Let you and the car become one before you push the envelope, oh, and leave the racing for the track.

Welcome!! Like the others said, take it easy and learn the car. I have had my MKII for about 3 years now and I feel like I am learning the car every day I am driving it. Anyway, good luck and hope to see you sometime. I live in Wichita, KS. Go to Bricktown and Ponca City every now and again for a road trip and to see the Redhawks. Take care!!

I was just at the Baylor (i think i spelled that right??) game this past fall, first live college game ever. Very cool. I had seen that they were doing a lot of stuff there at that time in Bricktown and I am looking forward to visiting again soon to see the changes. Take care!

Holy crap, I got it, and I can't stay off the freeway. I have never had a car like this, well, I had the MKI, but, auto, NA. This MKII Turbo is so damn fun I can hardly stan being away from the car. Is it normal to smell what smells like gas?
