the only common problem with water leaks inside the car is the t-top seals! the cars are just so old that these can only last so long! Mine use to leak when it was raining hard or I went to a car wash, but last winter when I stored my car I left the t-tops off and that seemed to make a big difference because it leaks only in car washes and it leaks much less!

Well I have replaced the head lights and it seems like I may have to adjust the light a little because I feel like its kind of pointing more inwards compared to how it should be projecting. In regards to the leak I went to check up on my car this morning to find my driver seat a bit wet. Looking at the window from the inside it seems the window wasn't making good contact with the seal of the a pillar and t-top. After giving the window a little more force it rolled up the extra 4mm that it needed to make good contact and no more melting snow was dripping in my car. Now I just need to wait till my seats dry up lol. I did try soaking up as much of it out of the seat as possible.
Also to my surprise my 94+ tail lights have came in on Sunday!!! Yeah I don't know, but I'm liking this EMS shipping company even more now that I know they ship any day of the week and weekend. I'm a have to go pick the tail lights up from my friends home on Wednesday and well hopefully I'll have that on the car by that night. I'll try to post some shots of the car when I finally get them on. |

Well I drove the car more and I guess there are more problems than I thought could be possible. It could be me or it could be the car. Every time I drive the car it smells like burnt brake pads, but I know the brakes are not rubbing because the car will roll when in neutral. It seems the smell is coming from the engine so now I'm worried that either A )I'm letting the clutch slip a lot when shifting or B) my clutch is not good and slipping more than it should hence making it smell like something is burning. The engine doesn't overheat so I don't think its the engine. What do you guys think it could be.

it's hard to say without actually smelling/seeing it myself. But the clutch has a very distinct smell!

If you want to make absolutely sure that it's not your pads dragging drive it until you're beginning to smell it then get out and feel the lug nuts right away. If they're hot, it's a dragging brake pad.
Just so you know, an overheated clutch doesn't really smell like overheated brakes. It smells much worse; like an omelette made of rotten eggs. Unless you're over revving then slipping the clutch on too slowly every time you accelerate I doubt it's related to your driving. Where is the clutch engagement point in the pedal travel?

Well the smell coming from the motor is the exact same smell that I was smelling when my brakes were holding. I accidentally put the hand brake on a very cold night, as I explained before. I don't think its my brakes though because I can tell its coming from my engine bay. Also there was one point smoke was coming out of my engine during emissions testing... I wasn't too happy because yeah I'm starting to think I'm in for a long and dirty road of fixing up these little problems. I don't know if the clutch casing can let smoke escape or not but if it does I think its my clutch. Some one on mr2oc.com did tell me it could be that one of my accessory belts are no good and slipping hence making the smell. It may be true because one of my belts does squeal every time I start it up. Either way I won't be driving her much till I can figure out what the problem is and do a tune up to make sure everything is good as it can be for her. I'll give you guys an update on what goes does these next couple of weeks.

I'll test that out to see if it's my brake pads but I doubt it. As I said in my previous post the smell does come from the engine bay not the wheels. Although if what you say is true it would be a relief because I'm really hoping its not the clutch. I'm kind of tight on money at the moment and don't want to have my car sitting out there till I can get the rest of the funding to fix big things. Little things are cool with me but not a big fix like engine/transmission repair. But either way I'll give you guys and update with what happens and thank you all for your help. ![]() |

Well I did a test today to see what is the culprit my brakes, my clutch, or my belts. First I wanted to check my belts so I basically turned on teh car and gave it some revs up and down the rpm range. Hopefully causing some kind of slippage in the belt if they were loose. No smell came with this so I'm assuming its not the belts.
After the car had warmed up I took the car around the city for a quick 5 min drive. I parked back in my spot opened up the hood and no smell. I touch the lug nuts and they were all cold. I also touched the rotors and they were just slightly warm. Note 1: rear left side rotor was a just slightly warmer than the rear right side rotor. Note 2: I changed the way I would drive the car. I would lift the clutch and once revs started to decrease I would give it gas for it to continue on moving. Before I would give it a little gas and then let the clutch go. To test if it was me and not the car lol. I took into consideration what I said in Note 2 and drove how I used to. I took the exact same route and checked the motor for "the smell" right after wards and well it was slightly there. The smell did return but faintly. So it seems I can't drive how I used to with my civic or it could be that my clutch is bad and needs to be repaired. Either way, now I do know how to drive the car to avoid having that smell from returning. I guess I just need to be a bit more gentle than I already drive lol. Either way I may need to have the car check just in case. |

I'd try replacing the clutch line with a steel braided line, or at least bleeding it! |

Well I got the tail lights on the car. I have to so a little more aligning with the center panel and replace a bulb that is bad but once that is done the car exterior is will be just as I pictured it. I'll try to get a photo tomorrow when its done, hopefully clean too depending on the weather.

Well I had my car tuned up, my belts changed, and also had my car repaired. The smell I was talking about was caused by a bad oil pan gasket that was allowing some oil to slowly leak out of the pan. I also had to buy new tires for it since the rears are almost done. So now the car is basically all set for the road... I hope lol. Even though I had to spend more on the car to get it repaired I'm still happy with the purchase. As for the photo's I don't have anything besides my camera phone at the moment and I have yet to give her a good cleaning so I'll probably have to wait till I can borrow my room mates camera when he returns from spring break.
