Howdy! Doing 85 AW11 race car build - DFW TX
Hi folks
I'm near Dallas Texas, and I just picked up an '85 AW11. I picked it up for $350, and I'm prepping it for the 24 Hours of LeMons race in Houston in October. One of the race rules is that you have to buy and prep the car (less safety gear) for $500. The guy we bought the car from said it had a good motor and tranny, but needed EFI work. Luckily, one of the other guys on the team is an EFI guru. We already have a .pdf of the BGB, and I've been using it to guide me in tearing stuff down for cleaning and fixing. I'll have parts up for sale too, as anything we can remove and sell, we can use the money to fix other stuff on the car. I've already pulled the entire AC system, with the exception of the piping that runs in the center tunnel. If anyone knows someone buying rebuildable cores, please let me know! The car also came with a spare ECU, AFM, and a ratty lookin' set of injectors. I've sent all 9 injectors (ratty spares + ratty installed ones + cold start) off to get cleaned and reconditioned. After they're back, I'll have a freshened set of injectors for sale. If there are any AW11 experts in the Dallas Fort Worth area that would be kind enough to help us on our quest, please PM me. All of us on the Crash Cart Racing team are car guys, but this is our first MR2. |

Welcome! I can't wait to see how your project comes out
