Just became an AW11 owner... very exciting.

Hey everyone,

Looks like I found a new forum to soak in some knowledge and maybe spread some as well. I just became a proud parent of a project AW11 last Week. I've had a few other projects in the past; a 1985 Corolla GT-S, 1986 Corolla SR5, 1974 Datsun 260Z, and currently a 1987 Toyota Van and my new addition to the family, a 1987 MR2 with a silvertop 4AG...
Anyway, I'm stoked to see what will be of this midship. Since my Van is my daily driver (which is a blast to drive... really), this AW11 will be my project car for those awesome 4AG Challenges. Well, just wanted to get myself introduced, thanks.

-Johnny D.

PS
I'll be creating a project thread soon enough so keep posted...

Thanks wildman6767 & cstmx07. Yeah, I've always wanted to own an AW11 because of that midship layout and 4AG powerplant. Aside from that, I've always felt they where a lot more comfortable to drive than my AE86s - but to each his own. Thanks again.

Thanks Dkh & Davis. Yeah, I definitely prefer the older type imports. I'm actually on the prowl for either a '74 Corolla Mango, '74 Corona sedan, '74 Celica coupe or '75 Celica hatch. Now, if I had money to spend I would be all over a '74 Skyline GTR or a '63 Silvia... no doubt. It's a shame Toyota or Datsun didn't produce a pre '75 midship or else it would be on my list

I couldn't find any pics of my first 86, but here are a few pics of my other old sweethearts:

The 2nd Corolla that I converted to GT-S.

4AG power, love it:

The 260z (I repainted it flat black, it looked nice but I didn't take a pic... lame, I know).

the '70s Z are very comfortable to drive, I think anyway:

Here is my daily drive/parts getter Van, this thing is super awesome - no lie.
Lowered 2" with some lip on the wheels :

The "drift battle" cockpit :

I'll get some pics of my AW11 soon enough...

Dkh, yeah - those are sweet. I like them too but the next thing I buy has to be smog excempt. Here is a link to a decent '77 one in Fontana - looks like it needs a good amount of work:

Club4AG Forum Topics: FS: 1977 Toyota Celica Liftback,5spd Fontana SoCal

I thought about getting this and doing a 7MGE swap - they seem to be fairly easy with not too much modding.

Hope you find the one you're looking for.
