new to forum and problem

I have a 2003 Sequential Trans MR2 and I know the battery needs to be replaced because I had to jumpstart it a few times. Now it won't start at all. It is not turning over but there is some juice left in the battery. It sounds like a starter problem. I am located in MD and do not want to take this back to the dealer, does anyone know how to find a mechanic in the area, or is anyone from MD? Any other suggestions?

WHat happens exactley when you try and start the car? And you said you know the battery needs to be replaced, but did you replace it? Give us as much info as possible and we'll try to help you as best as we can.

the battery seems low but jump starting would not help. I am going to try disconnecting the battery for 15 min then see if it will start. The break seems tight and when I turn the key there is nothing...just check engine light, and the interior lights are dim. Doesn't even try to turn over.

It sounds like there is a problem with the connection with the battery and sometimes i goes dim and the last time i had to turn the ignition a few times until i was able to get it out of reverse to neutral....

Well, you know your battery is crap. Go buy a new one, hook it up, and does the problem still persist?

You can take your battery into a checker, kragen, autozone, etc. and they can test your battery, Just walk in there and tell em you need it tested, they'll take it from there. Once you get the new battery fitted, if the problem is still there, then we'll troubleshoot.

I agree, replace the battery since you know it's shot anyway, then go from there.
