I will not comment on that except for the fact that he mentioned a coolant leak which I guess ended up being the busted radiator...which was the least of my worries.
But slow and steady...wins the race maybe? haha

...Isnt it not only unethical but illegal to not mention things such as a salvaged or rebuilt title in most states?

I didn't think it was illegal to not mention it. Maybe illegal if they ask if its salvaged and you say no when it is. idk. I always thought of it as the buyers responsibility to find these things out. The seller generally just wants the money and I never think of them as a friend. You don't want to trust everything they say without investigating.

Lying by omission is still lying in my book. Either way most states are out to help the buyer more so than the seller when it comes to unethical practices with car sales.

Your book is not the legal book. Basically you are seeing this in a one instance way. If they don't ask, you don't need to tell them. It's up to the buyer to do their homework, not the seller. If you are stupid enough NOT to check it out, that is YOUR fault by all means. Like I said before, some sellers don't know the history of the car themselves so they couldn't tell you even if they wanted to.

The only thing that could possibly get your for withholding information is if the buyer asks you and you straight up lie.

Its actually not only up to the buyer to do their homework. Like i said most states require the person selling the car to disclose any information about the title being wrecked, rebuilt, salvaged..etc. YOU are the reason why ethics is being taught in every business class, you simply dont have any.

what sucks is when you have a light hit and replacing something as simple as a bumper can total a car due to age and parts availability. I am an estimator at a shop and have seen many of nice cars (older though) and easily repairable be deemed a total loss by the ins. company cause it will cost 80% of its "value" to repair.
Factor in $48 hr, then parts and then materials it doesnt take much to write a $1500 estimate and for my 87 that would be considered a total.

If you saw the photos and are planning on keeping the car then GO FOR IT! if you are trying to make a buck then walk away

I found out that an R-title (in the State of Texas), means its a Theft Recovery. I rather have an R-then a Salvage, looks brighter for you bro.
