new to mr2

Hello everyone. Just got an 88 mr2 on a lien sale for $200. The car is in very good condition, except for the hole in the block. I have since replaced the block and now have a nice little milage car.(I hope) I am usually driving my 97 cobra but times change when gas is 4.60 a gallon +. I live in the Phelan area, high desert in so cal. I would like to know if any local clubs exsist around this area.I would not mind seeing some other examples of nice cars. I would also like to learn a little more about these unique little cars. Thanks alot for any input.

Welcome! Sounds like you got a sweet deal. I've got a pair of 88's, an 86, and my dad has an 88 S/C as well. I've got pics of all of mine, and some from our meets HERE if you're wanting to see some more of these. Do you have any pictures of your 88 yet? Here are a couple teaser pics of my 88's... The Supercharged first...

and the N/A...

I'm no help on the local folks... I'm across the country from you. What color is yours?

If it is original paint, that sounds like Orange Pearl Mica... a rarer color, and one of my favorites! Definately a nice find. I like the hardtops, but only my project 86 is a hardtop car. They are a little lighter than the t-top cars and sunroof models.
