I'm in B-Town, Indiana and this is a great little hotrod!
I have done lots of Mustang modding (mostly in the V6 arena) and when I started in that we had to really improvise. I got my MR2 for $400 and all its needed was a good battery to start right up and I'm doing brakes now... also a windshield and lotsa bodywork in the future. Any help on the front retractable calipers is welcome, but I'm gonna search as soon as I get done here. Looks like a great group here, hope to meet lots of you! I need to clean off the valve covers so I can see if it has the red lettering ![]() Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! I hope to add some serious power, I have a lot of fabricating experience (mostly automotive) and some of my best work has been in the Mustang magazines. I'd like to use an Eaton M-90 on one of these beasties Hunchback of Notre Dame style if needed, a bulge in the bonnet!Last edited by OldSkool; 07-07-2008 at 05:20 PM. Reason: added info |

the "old" project
Here's the Stang, got it for $1,000 with blown head gaskets and fixed it
(including adding ~50 RWHP) for another $400. I do all my own hotrodding work and hopefully my theories on 4 valve engines hold true as well... ![]() Oh, BTW, it's a V6 that makes V8 HP (if impromptu 4.6 and 5.0 street races mean anything) and I also smoked an older Supra in about a quarter mile contest (all the way thru 4 gears). Stock cam and factory tune I intended it that way for the short term, now it's up to myson (now in Marine boot camp!) to heat it up further, but he likes the Mister 2 very well too! Sounds fun! I've got two 88 sunroof cars, an 86 rolling shell hardtop I'm deciding what engine to put in, and I've got one of them older Supras you smoked... an 87 N/A that I just picked up last month for $600, so I couldn't pass that up. If you want to see my two 88's you can look HERE. We did some custom body work to my N/A MR2... that's going to be our stage 1 body kit (with the addition of a custom front lip), and my 88 S/C car will be getting our stage 2 treatment sometime soon. Enjoy the modding, these are really fun little cars and they handle like no other! A stock SC12 supercharger will boost max around 14 lbs. max I've read prior to meltdown... so you'll want to look at other options like you mentioned. The SC14 (japan only) I've read flows better/more but takes some custom work to mount (pipes and such I believe), and there's always twincharging... S/C and turbo. I've had 3 Mustangs (92 5.0 notch, 95 GT convertable with tons of mods, and a 65 2+2 that I've still got) myself along with 3 Corvettes (one a Lingenfelter car that was also supercharged) before I came to these little cars... I think I've had every bit as much fun (if not more) in these little MR2's
. They look great too! Oh, and my dad has an 88 S/C and a 91 N/A 5 speed t-top car (although the 5-speed is locked up so we're waiting on a transmission). |

Thx, [boom], for making me keep it REAL! curvesrgood, Lingenfelter is one of my heroes, even tho I'm not personally a Corvette guy. I'd never buy a new one but I'm not ruling out a good deal on used! |
