Hello my name is Chris and I'm a sports car addict....
Hey all, I started on the path to love for the MR2 a couple months ago. My folks had a little spare cash and were searching for a reliable backup car for my mom's DD (93 Escort GT). So... In the midst of the search they called me up and said "Hey we're going to look at an MR2, want to come along?" I opted to come along for the ride, although not especially enthused as it was a MKI and I had often dismissed them as being kind of dorky and outdated. So we checked it out. The car was so, so, soooooo dirty on the outside. Not too scruffy a body though, no rust of consequence and just needed paint and minimal body work. I went for a run around the block in the little white 89 T-top NA and that was it for me guys. I started liking this cute little go-kart pretty much immediately. The car ran out fairly well as it just had a decent JDM 4AGE swapped in. The rest of the car was pretty sound too. So, the little white 2 came home with us. My dad has been a lifelong sportscar and small car enthusiast and restored countless cars, Fiat, Sunbeam, MG, Triumph, a Datsun Fairlady roadster, various Z cars, you name it. He instilled the love of small sports cars in me too, I suppose. We had worked together turning wrenches the last couple years for a living, but have moved on from that to something less labor intensive. It's all for the better I think, as both of us have had to sell off some very nice cars that were supposed to be kept. ![]() It's been a long journey to the MR2, in terms of vehicles I've had, but I think I finally found a car that suits me. It's not very common (even here in Orlando, FL land of sports cars), has some quickness, corners beyond my level of driving ability and even gets decent MPG. ![]() My dad and I are sharing the 2, for now, until he gets another sports car (Miata, which will be his third). I'll try to get pics of the 2 in the next day or so, though it still needs paint and body, but I have a busy work schedule. Wow, that was a long first post. Will anyone make it through the whole thing? |

Glad to see you liking the mr2. I was actually thinking about getting one for a dd when my baby goes in for some serious work. But anyway welcome to the board! Youll learn tons of stuff here.

Thanks NewForm. Glad to be here. I've been hanging around here a while just absorbing knowledge here and there. Most of the members seem very nice, unlike that "other board" Some friendly people there, but plenty of boneheads too.
Had a chance to snap a quick pic today. |
