1984 original MR2 @ Tokyo

Hi, all.

I had been looking for MR2 (AW11) in a good condition.

In the last year, I found one with my preference.
On the day I went to see the used car shop, I bought it.

1984 MR2 G-Limited
Metal-top (normal roof)
NA engine

Many AW11 are still alive and running in Japan.
May or may not be you know it.

I hope to have some connection with MR2 owners all over the world.

Thank you Josh.
Actually, I run a web blog page for MR2 (AW11) with some pictures on Yahoo! Japan.
For this IROC, I'm new and could not figure out much yet.
In a mean time, I could put a link to my web page althogh it is in Japanese.

Other than that, I just started Blogger in Enligh.
I am going to post English report for MR2 meeting in Japan.

Actually, MR2 meeting is active in Japan.
I myself joined 2 meetings in July.

Hi, BlueMR2.
Your's also looks good.
There are a lot of SW20 in Japan.
The parts supply is better than for SW20 compared to that for AW series.
Hope to get in touch.

Hi, Conor.
Although I missed the last year's AW meeting at Toyota museum, there were more than 90 AW series gathered in 2007 meeting.

I hope I can attend the meeting this year and if I could, I put my report here also.

Many AW users and a lot more SW users.
Some meet almost every weekend.
Also, we have a lot of the roads to drive.

Welcome to the board... an 1984 here in the US is a VERY rare thing! One turned up in the south a few months ago that was imported from Japan. Since you run the AW11 web site you might like to see some pictures of my aw11's... I've got two 88's, one with custom body work, the other is a 4agze swap car with lots of modifications. I've also just picked up a project 86 hardtop rolling shell with no motor or transmission and I couldn't resist an 87 Supra I picked up a couple weeks ago. Here is the LINK and here are a few teaser pictures...
my 88 S/C with Volk wheels...

and my 88 N/A with custom body work...

Your's looks good!

From the front bumper I assume you changed it to the after the minor change bumper because the initial model's bumper does not slant in the very front. Your modification is very clean and neat!

I'll update on the MR2 meeting in July in Japan at Blogger, please see the following.

MR2 fun from Japan

I have run HPDEs (high performance driver events) with it. That's essentially racing without chasing a checkered flag or a clock. I am currently in the process of rebuilding a 1mz to swap into my Mk II then the plan is to race in Time Trials with it if i can get it classed reasonably well.

We do have several racers on the forum here ranging from drag racing, road course, rally and autox. mr2tim even races a Mk I.

I'm pretty keep my AW in the original condition including steering wheel, seat, shift knob and so on.

But I also like to see the modified cars especially increasing the performance.
