There were no turbo's sold in Australia, only personal imports from Japan. I'm thinking of trying for a Bathurst spec as they're lighter and had a higher power engine so the diff should be higher spec.
Any idea how much the engine/transmission/clutch assembly weighs? I'll be ripping that out and that becomes my weight allowance for everything I put in. Unless I want to completely redo the suspension with new springs and so on. |

That was a nice MR2 but 100 mph with an estimated range of 25 miles +or- doesn't seem worth all the work and money involved. |

I'm pretty sure the 3sgte weighs around ~380lbs or ~172kg (The 5s is a little under 350lbs from what I've heard). The tranny could weigh up to ~50 kg but I'm not sure on that one.

If you're going to retain the stock turbo transmission, then you should be fine. Other than that.. there's no actual "rear end," as the MR2 uses a transaxle

I would hope that advancements in battery and electric engine technology would help an electric mr2 go faster longer ![]() |
