Better make it worthwhile...

I guess you only get one of these, so should make it a good one, right?

My name is Bill and I'm 22 years old, I'm from Pennsylvania and I'm a devote Christian. That doesn't make me better than anyone, in fact it is quite humbling. Its a joy serving the Lord and I have been blessed in many ways because of it.

Over the years I have built various import cars, including a 500whp GSX Eclipse and a slew of turbo and naturally aspirated Hondas.

The automotive industry is my passion, and I'm not partial to any make or model, import of domestic. I feel that if it looks good, looks clean, sounds great and goes fast, I'm all for it.

I heavily favor the JDM "look" but by no means would buy a JDM part if it was inferior to a part that can be attained for half the price.

The MR2 project I plan on building will be my first Toyota! I look forward to it very much and am eager to get all the kinks worked out to get started in the winter.

Plans for the NA include:

- Full Honda k20a swap w/ 6speed tranny
- GT35R full race turbo w/ charge piping and exhaust
- Working S2000 digital gauge cluster
- Ask Sports wide body kit
- full coilover suspension
- big brake kit

I look forward to getting to know everyone on the board and sharing useful information with anyone who wants!

In a way online forums can be stripped very easily of mature conversation, especially with all the eTHUGS running around. I think if we all just bite our tongue's every once and a while, the internet would be a lot better place for everyone.

Well that's it for now, I'll see ya in a thread!

GOD BLESS!

Any particular reason you are going with an s2k dash, as opposed to one from AiM or Stack?

Good luck with your project.

my first question was why the honda motor?

Toyota has some VERY nice motors man, look into a twin turbo 5VZ if you want some extreme power.

Since I'm using the k series, an s2k gauge cluster is extremely easy to swap in since i'm going to be using the k series ecu as well. Not only that but it is also affordable compared to the AiM or Stack units.

Plus it looks cool. :P

I have looked into some other swaps that would be less hassle, but I already have a full k20a drievtrain, ecu and engine harness that I was going to put into my civic before I totaled it. The setup only has 24,000 miles on it and it would be a shame not to put to good use. The 5mz is also a 6 cylinder which would quite a bit of weight to the car. I'm trying to shave off some pounds where I can so I can meet my 2300lb weight goal.

I've also built quite a few k series, both turbo'd and n/a... They are extremely stout motors and take very well to bolt-ons. The heads flow tremendous amounts of air.

Nice, I never cared to look into pricing of the s2k dash, but I assumed it'd cost a pretty penny. If you can get it for fairly cheap too, even better. I do like the s2k dash as well.

Good luck.

I actually never planned on doing a full dash, just the gauge cluster. But hey I guess that wouldn't look too bad.

Ya you can pick up a s2000 cluster and harness plug anywhere from $200-250 which isn't too bad.

what about it? to swap into the car?

Like I said I really have no beef with toyota motors, its just from what I've seen the honda motor is superior in many ways, including forced induction power numbers.

I turbo'd a civic hatch about 2 weeks ago with a k20a2, and a 7psi it made 340whp. thats ridiculous everyday drivability.

Where at in PA are you? I've been seeing a few mkII's around lately. I'm still the only one with a mkI in my area that I know of.

If you do this swap and can show me that its cost effective and reliable with decent power I may have to seriously look into it.

well i guess the cost effective part is a matter of how much your willing to spend. i picked my swap up with axles, motor, trans, ecu, wiring harness and shifter box for $3600.

reliable is not really in question, everyone knows how reliable honda motors are, especially with just bolt ons or a mild forced induction setup.

and power should be around 190whp without any modifications or tuning. considering a custom exhaust is a must, a k pro is a must and so is an intake the swap in and tuned should be sitting right around 230whp.

iirc, the v6 swaps only add about 50lbs.

swap sounds interesting minus the blessing.

I understand what your saying. But the swap is really no money out of my pocket since I already have it sitting around. Plus I'll be turbo'ing it to around 12psi which should be good for 350+ whp.

Once I build the bottom and add an aftermarket intake manifold I'll be well into the 400whp range on a conservative tune. Either way the 2GR-FE swap is looking mighty tasty at 260+whp and gobs of torque to go along with it.

I'm going to do a little more research and see what I come up with. That motor and a supercharger would be proper.
