Wink Hi guys!! new owner from SOCAL ;]

hey guys! mr2s are freakin awesome!

heres mine:

Notice the license plate =P It was the previous owner's, and he was in his fifties, and took pretty good care of the interior/exterior. Only problem is that im leaking from 3 different places, including my oil pan gasket. I don't know much about fixing cars and I'm planning to change the oil pan gasket myself and with a help of a friend. any suggestions? I've been using the search button and Google to find info about changing the oil pan gasket but no luck! Thanks

Welcome to the board! Nice clean 2 you picked up. I don't think there is a oil pan gasket. When I had my major service done, we used FIPG. You can use some high temp black silicone as well (Check out this link: http://www.mr2.com/forums/turbo-3s-g...diagnosis.html). Beside the oil pan gasket, what are the other leaks?

Where about SoCal are you? We are planning to have another meet in Orange County soon. Here is a link to our last meet: HOT AUGUST NIGHTS!!! (Saturday - 8/16/08) and Hot August Night Aftermath Pics!. Hopefully you can meet up with some of the local owners.

hahaha.... i live in orange county, and super autobacs is like 10 minutes away from my house... sounds good :], about the oil pan gasket, i asked the guy at kregens and he said there is one, so i went ahead and bought it... but haven't done anything yet. so that high temp black silicone will work?
thanks for the info btw

oh yeah, i went to Toyota and they did a free 27 point inspection and this is what they wrote down "major oil leak found upon inspection. as when engine was replaced that possible seals are not replaced. due to aging and deteriorate, all seals are showing sign of leak. leaking from front seals, oil pan, distributor Oring. possible other leaks from oil hoses and gaskets or tranaxle.
Then he wrote "replace valve cover gasket, 490$.. Front Cran k and cam seal $1150.. Oil pan gasket 385$"

I used the FIPG sealant. But I never heard of an oil pan gasket for the SW20. I think you should contact Aaron Willis at Lithia Toyota (he is a board sponsor) which most of us use to get our OEM parts. His email address is awillis@lithia.com. He'll be able to tell you if Toyota makes/made one. I'm not a fan of buying car parts from Kragens, just Mobil1 Synthetic and car wash stuff.

I used the same FIPG sealant without a gasket. When I went to Toyota they told me no gasket is needed, just the sealant.
