new to me 85 MR2
i just got an MR2 from my boss that he bought new in 1985, he stopped driving it last year due to really bad oil leak which i already found and repaired ( oil cooler lines).
typical MR2 rust and idling problems. other than that she dirves pretty good has a new clutch and brakes. believe i need new strut on passengers side as i have a nice clunk going over bumps wont know for sure until i can jack it up and give the front end a going over. thanks to the search feature i believe the idling problem is air in the cooling system, going to flush it out this weekend and start replacing vacuum hoses today at lunch time before i start messing with anything else. already patched the rust last weekend as here in NJ they will fail rust holes larger than a quarter during inspection i like others dont like that extreme idle when cold, right around 2400 when cold this am but i wont ask if its normal as i did use the search feature and found that most others have the same condition. i will post photos as soon as i can. thanks again for a great forum full of information Last edited by wp23n; 07-08-2010 at 09:55 AM.. |

Welcome and feel free to ask questions
make sure you get all the air out when refilling your cooling system |

give me a chance to enjoy it first.just changed half the vacuum lines at lunch (i thought my corvette had a lot of vacuum lines)and found the one for the cruise control was in 2 pieces , so hopefully i now have a working cruise and 1 less at minimum vacuum leak. |
