i was reading over this post and thought i might lend a hand....you dont need to replace your dash or interior parts,if you take them out and lightly sand them ,you can paint them any color you want...if there not cracked..
Hope this helps. |

Welcome! I'm like you, working on my 91 turbo project. Only mine's going to be white when I get done with it. It runs good, I'm just working on the body and paint. It'll be awhile though, now that school started up I don't have as much time to work on it

A lot of people part out their black interior pieces, and they really don't ask that much money for them. That's the route I would take. I've even considered it myself, since my interior is blue, but I would prefer black. I'm just too lazy to do all that work. I think it would look a lot better than trying to paint it though. I don't know how the dash vinyl would look if you tried to paint it, my guess would be not very good. And since you would have to pull it out to paint it anyway, might as well just replace it with a black one.

Oh, when you said blue i though BLUE like out-there-colorful blue. Not just blue interior.
You might wanna check the usual components, waterpump, timing belt, do a tune up just in case. How many miles does it have? btw, what do you mean the blow off valve sounds horrible? it's the stock one, it doesn't sound at all. oh and another thing, the radiator that you are looking at through the bumper might not be the radiator. that's the AC condenser, the radiator is behind it. Make sure you check for holes and sh*t. The last thing you want is an overheated engine like me (i know from experience, my engine overheated 5 times and it still ran! til' i blew it) |

ok i am going to have to correct people in here and i really hate being a ****....but i took out the dash and all the pieces that go with it,the door panels, the pillers on both sides, the center console...and painted it all for 10 dollars..as for how it looks, well my friend who has black factory interior in his 91..if you look at our cars you can tell no difference.and as for chipping or scratching there is none if you can paint right....i had mine painted for six month now and still looks just as good as when i first painted it..
hope this helps.. |

If you paint plastic the right way, it can be good to go for a long time or forever. Just prep it good, get it really clean, prime, and paint with an appropriate type paint (SEM). Then again, if you can get the piece for a few bucks, then you might as well just do that and not have to worry about it.

mine WAS blue, I took it off, and painted it black,(vinyl paint) I was going to get it upholstered, they charged me way to much, $600. Make sure u sand it properly, it will never peel.

I have friends who got white interiors and blue interiors... if you ask me... i would say they look weird. maybe b/c their cars are white and blue so the whole cars look like the same color. thats no good. and also, they have the work done in a few years now and the paint isn't in that good of the shape, they chipped. Maybe they didn't done them right, i don't know. I have always like the good old fashion black interior. lol..
