New possible MR2 Owner and Racer
Hello everyone. I have been looking for a car to race in my local stock car track "hornet" class, and believe I have found it. Theres an 86 MR2 that I am looking very seriously into buying and turning it into a honda / ford / nissan killer.
as for me, My car racing experience includes all of one race last year. I raced a honda accord in the same class I would be running the MR2 in, and worked my way from 20th up to 10th in the 20 lap main at the 1/4 mile bullring. Before I got into racing cars I raced motocross for 7 seasons from the time i was 15 until i broke my leg last november. I broke my leg so badly that my ankle doesnt quite function at 100% and so I have given up on motocross and am now looking to hop into a car full time. I did ask a couple questions earlier in the racing section, so if anyone can assist me with the answers to the questions I asked there I would be very very thankful. Thanks everyone, I hope to hear from some of you soon. |

Sweet! Welcome to the Board! I was thinking about running an 80's model MKI here at my local dirt track also next year. The rules here state that every race I have to start from the back because of the RWD. booooo! it just will make it that much more fun to pass all the people I think.

for dirt the RWD is the way to go anyways. makes it more able to "drift" through the corners. Our track is a high banked asphault oval. I am kinda curious to see how the mid engine car would work on the track though, and am a little worried it may push due to some of the things i have read

Ah, yes. I will be on dirt with some nicely banked turns. It may push at first, but through expierence I'm sure you can tune the suspension, if they alow aftermarket suspension in the rule book.
