Soon to be getting an mkII any tips? [also new ;D]
So yeap I'm another 17 year old wanting something different. I'm looking to buy a friend's black mkII which is driven by his dad, it has a turbo jdm swap and he hardly drives it, currently I'm selling/trading my integra.
I've been driving for awhile, but actually daily driving/track racing for 2 years now. I think I'm ready to get a car I've always wanted, and into a whole different world. from FF to MR is something new to me, and I'm starting to go to University Technical Institute within a year or so. Any tips/Advice towards getting used to the car [IE sharper turns, launching, proper TLC, not-to-do's, and or just a happy welcome I wouldn't mind either :] It's great to join a new forum, and I'll be sending in donations and soon as ya know it ![]() |

Welcome aboard!
![]() One tip is watch the rear end! It slips out from underneath you faster than lightning! lol Just gotta get use to it. But the car is super fun, especially if you hit the road course or Auto-X. What year is the car? 93+ MR2's have better suspension than 91-92. And slightly larger brakes. |

Welcome indeed..... Yup, its pretty much night and day difference between front wheel vs rear wheel drive. I'm sure you'll pick it up since you've been tracking for about 2 years.

Welcome to the board of awesome
![]() You actually sound me from a couple years back, I dunno maybe i fell into a time warp or something today lol. FWD to RWD is always harder than RWD to FWD imo but I'm sure you will manage. I can almost guarantee you will spin while you are getting used to it (on the track of coarse). Keep your foot on the gas and it should be fine. As for do/don't s all I can suggest is get used to it and don't crash while finding the limit. Oh and use good oil being a turbo so that you can go to rev limit no worries at the track ![]() |

I'm liking the tips :P I've driven RWD cars all alike, SR 240's, S2k's, 350z's turbo z's, [thanks to a bunch of friends with parents that own stores in perfect locations in vegas] But never a mid engine car. I've driven an mr2 once down a street and that was about it lol. I'll definetly get some pics tomorrow, and hopefully some when I hear about the next track event in cali. [I live in vegas]
