Oh Hai
![]() The dreaded bouncing idle. Where to start, where to start? Well it is normally customary to make sure nothing is unplugged and then check for vacuum leaks and then go from there. An unstable idle is sometimes hard to pin down cause there are so many possible causes. Do you have an accurate boost gauge so you can do a rudimentary boost check. Check the turbo pipes are all tight and sealed as well. |

Oil light is bad, check your oil level and make sure it is full. Check for metal shavings in the old oil and change the oil filter. Engine damage from lack of oil is the last thing you want.

The stock ecu cannot be changed but can be reset by disconnecting the battery, pumping the brakes and leave overnight. Car may run a little rough sometimes after a reset but it then tunes to your driving style.
As for metal in the oil you may see it when you drain the oil in which case that is a bad thing. |

isn't there two oil lights? a red one and a yellow one? normally the yellow one appears when the oil sensor is damaged. Normally a result of draining the oil without disconnecting it.
You don't need to get a boost controller yet. Not until you fix your other issues. I'd say it's better to make sure you fix your initial issues before starting to mod the car. That's how you fck it up ![]() EDIT: you said in another post this thing had a rebuild. I highly doubt it, i highly doubt someone will trade an MR2 Turbo with a rebuild for a 300ZX n/a maybe for the TT but not for the N/A. It's okay though, when i bought mine the fagget said it had 20K miles on the rebuild, what it really had was blown seals, coolant issues, and unbalanced crank. Since the rebuild is probably BS, you might wanna also do the usual maintenance that you are unsure off, distributor cap, rotor, wires, sparks, oil change, water pump and timing belt. That way you can take care of everything in one swoop Last edited by metheores; 11-27-2008 at 09:01 PM.. |

^ Yeah I would have to agree do all the maintenance and change all the fluids. Maybe even do a compression test cause dropping a cylinder sucks. I dropped one on a "rebuilt" engine once and that seriously stuffed up the next couple of weekends for me.

You can post images by using [im g]http://________________[/im g] without the spaces like i said mang, that engine is probably not rebuilt and should do every maintenance before thinking of adding a boost controller. |
