Another Father/Son Project
Hello! My son recently purchased a 1991 MR2 with a JDM Turbo Swap. It was supposed to be his project and turned into mine. This should have been a long term project but became an immediate one to ensure safety and reliability (he bought one in very mechancially unsound shape).
Since purchasing the MR2 in October we have dropped about $5200 into it with quite a bit more to go. I joined to the MR2 board to share information as I have been spending a lot of time under the car. Here are a few pics ![]() ![]() ![]() Before Replacement Parts ![]() After Replacement Parts ![]() ![]() Before Turbo Rebiuld (Burning oil from exhaust and oil in IC Piping) ![]() After Turbo Rebuild ![]() Last edited by SonsMR2; 01-01-2009 at 08:26 PM.. |

That looks like the future of my 2. 5sfte until I blow that up while saving for a jdm swap. gen 2 or 3 depending on how long it takes to get boost happy.

You need better barkes, or get the 'turbo' calipers. Are the rotors spray painted?

Welcome aboard. I still appreciate my dad's input on previous and current projects. How do you like the MR2 vs. some of the cars you may have grown up with?

These will stop plenty well. I've used these rotors several other vehicles. |

I like the feel. In comparison, my first car was a Fiat X19 which is a wedge shaped two seater. It handled very well also. I still wouldn't give up my Cobalt SS/SC for one but I wouldn't mind having one as a second car.

Gen3 swap DONE!!

Ah your kid's lucky. My parents aren't into cars at all. I bought my MR2 as my first car when I was 14 and it did not run and was sitting for about 5-6 years. Lol Its made a ton of progress since. Not a huge fan of body kits or fram oil filters though. Lol Looks pretty good though. Welcome to the boards, looking forward to seeing the cars progress in the future.
