Hi everyone,
I work for a company who manufacture a range of throttle bodies. Part of our range is big bore single throttles. CNC machined from billet aluminium. One of our successes was a throttle made for and ran by Roger Clark Motorsport who were last years 2008 UK Overall Time Attack winners in their 850bhp Subaru Impreza. I'm currently looking into making a 72mm direct bolt on throttle for the 2GR-FE engine that uses a throttle cable. This would mean anyone planning on a conversion for their MR2 can ditch the standard ECU, and run aftermarket, opening the door for big tuning. I don't know yet if people would be interested in this or not. If you are, please send me a PM, or add your name here. We are based next door to Lotus who (as you know) are putting this engine into their new Evora car. Our company is formed from of ex-Lotus powertrain engineers. Please check the website for a selection of the current throttles we make, AT Power Throttle Body: More Airflow More Torque More Power AT Power | Throttle Body, Airbox, Fuel Injector. I realise this may look like blatant advertising, but what I'm trying to do is add something new to the MR2 community if there is a demand for it. If I go ahead with this, I'm sure you would appreciate being the ammong first to know about it :-) If you have some questions please get in touch, Thanks, John. |

I'm assuming that powertrain would have to be mounted longitudinally? If this were the case then there is definitely no room in the stock engine bay for this. Mounted latitudinally might be an option (prolly not either judging by the size) but then you would have to make major changes to the gearbox.
I'm guessing that's why you've had no resonance as yet Now if you'd make a TB for the 3S seriesof motors.........![]() |

Yes I would imagine in a soarer the engine is longitudinal, I wasn't aware of anyone doing an MR2 conversion, but I thought I would ask.
Are you talking about the Beams engine? We have got a design for that engine, and the 4AG too. But as yet there hasn't been enough interest for us to make any. We go by what people are asking for, and although they are on the list, something else always comes along ![]() Thanks for looking anyway ![]() John. |

I think it's a good offer personally
![]() No, I'm not talking about the beams. The beams is a special powertrain and is relatively rare. What I'm talking about is the 3S-GE, 3S-GTE and 5S-FE motors which were most often used in the MR2. No probs! Thanks for posting. |

too bad you folks are in England... makes the cost of doing business much more expensive VS a US based company.
which begs the question... how much do your basic TB's run for something like the 2gr (or similar)? |

EDIT: this thread was long dead. Don't expect to hear anything from the OP, because he only has 4 posts and joined in 2010.
