Hey y'all, new to the forum and MR2's...
Just bought a 1987 MR2 with a 20valve silvertop swap.
Clean body, clean interior (needs door panels) but has new carpet/seats/stereo. Anyway, it has a bog at 3500rpms, but it goes away if i go into the throttle or let off the throttle...so i'm thinking the TPS or TVIS valve/sensor? -let me know ASAP- this is going to be my daily for a while. anyway, the car will be shortly turned into a SCCA autox whore =D so... i need some suggestions, comments and i'll get some pictures up of it ASAP. suspension subwoofer (the sound system is upgraded but lacking any bass whatsoever) throttle issue (bogging at 3500) and whatever else anyone feels like adding in here ![]() thanks Brian |

Sound like a sweet car that 20 valve should put out nice power!
t-vis valve And i don't that the t-vis would be the culprit. I think the tps sounds like the culprit, if you have a service manual for that engine, and the knowhow you'd want to check the tps like you said, as well as the afm EDIT, maybe just check that the throttle cable is moving freely Last edited by ebouwman; 02-22-2009 at 01:57 PM. |

oh sorry, air flow meter, i think the 20v has one, it's the flappy thing that measures how much air goes into the engine, unless yours happens to you a manifold air pressure sensor (map)
The afm is always somewhere between the throttle body and air filter and has a wire connector going into it, you can't really miss it, and if you take it out you can look in and see the flappy bit. I belive you test it by hooking up your multi electrical tester between two of the leads and measuring resistance when the afm flap is open and when closed, and make sure it's within the proper specs. (which i don't have for that engine) |
