Hello.
Hey,
I'm new to the forums, obviously. And I'm new to MR2's, I just bought my first one and I love it. |

It's a '87 MK1 MR2, I picked it up for a grand. It has its expected problems, but considering the age of it the car. It's not too bad. I'm replacing the tranny soon, cause I have the dreaded fifth gear pop out and my second and reverse are starting to grind too. And within the next year, I hope to get a 4agze in it. I was entertaing the idea of dumping a 3s-gte in it, but I don't want to deal with the motor mounts, wiring and the tight fit. This is my first car I've ever owned and the moment I jumped in it, it felt right. Plus, I got my first speeding ticket in it too. So, it's fate.
I see you're moving to the Oregon coast. I live in Medford, Oregon. Where on the coast are you settling to? |

I've driven through Medford lots of times. Great mountain roads around there if I recall correctly. Welcome to the boards and congrats on your new MR2!

oh, and if your considering the mk1.5 swap (3sgte) there are some accessories available that would make your life easier.
mounts - Speed - Source - Design. Fabricate. Produce. Install. Maintain. wiring - MR220V is a sponsor here and he does a wiring service that makes your harness plug and play. |

Hey Newbee
Hi,
My name is Tim, I've owned 6 mr2 Mark 's and raced my 89 S/C since I bought it off the showroom floor. I have a 87 (the strengthened one) tranny with good gears 1-4 and syncros for sale. I pulled the fifth gear for a repairs and am willing to send my parts tranny to you for a nominal cost plus shipping. You might want to check the Club website archives for information on the 4a-gze swapout it's quite an undertaking and if your a good mechanic you can do it, with alot of pre-planning and parts purchases. As a reminder, there is a clutch adjusting mechanism above the footpedal which adjusts the height of the pedal and when the slave cylinder is activated. Good luck with your MidenginedRunabout2. Happy Motoring!! Tim (mr2tim) Supercharzed Toyz Quote:

Thanks, but I already replaced my tranny and have the old one sitting in my garage for parts and possible rebuild. I read your .Doc on fifth gear pop-out, it makes me a little more relaxed now. But I emailed you about the parts you had for sale. |
