Goodmorning MR2 Enthusiasts!
Hello all,
My name is Jordan. I own a 1990 300zx, black on tan. Previously owned a Subaru SVX that I loved. I've been an avid fan of the MR-2 for quite some time. It's by far a more likeable car than the Supra for me. I've always had a kid crush on them. I've seen some for sale around the area, mostly in the Seattle and Portland areas(I'm about half way between both). None have been what I'm looking for. Anyway though, I've got a lot of plans for my 300zx, but would like an MR-2 in the future if the price and car are right. It's good to be here and thanks for having me ![]() |

We must meet up and go on some drives. I'm always on the hunt for other sports enthusiasts. You down lol, I've been bored out of my mind. Only guy in the Tri-Cities that has anything notable is a black mark IV supra, not sure on the year. I see a few MR-2's in the area but none that are for sale, or seem to know what their driving.
But ya, anytime you're game for a cruise or something let me know. Good to know there's more out there than the Integra/civic gang of the Tri-Cities lol. ***P.S*** I want a ride in that MR-2 I love the things and don't get much of a chance to really see how they feel. |

I've seen some of the adds. I'm absolutely meticulous about cars and records. I mean I have such a hard time dishing out money on someones "claimed rebuilt" motor or what not. Makes for a difficult search. I see them on craigslist a lot, just usually in piss poor shape. Not that my 300z is in great shape right now, but it was decent.
Do you do a lot of street racing, or do you take it to auto-x's and the like? I'm not big on the street racing, but once I do a swap on the 300 I'm definitely taking it to the track. |

Definitely, I've been looking as well, might sell the 300 if I can find a nice MR-2. If you do see something that looks like an awesome deal, let me know, much appreciated.

I'm looking for an MR-2 within i'd say max 8,000$, but I'm a freak about records lol.
I don't know if you're on my myspace or not, I don't check it as much anymore, especially after I crashed my computer lol. More money for none car related things...it makes me tired.I'm so envious, I saw a nice example of a 2 today. I was driving to work and it was that steel grey, I was in love. |

Another SVX enthusiast, welcome! Had a '92 LS-L myself before I got my MR2 (still do actually, can't sell the thing for what I consider reasonable cost given the built transmission in it). Interestingly enough I was looking at 300ZXs a while back too, but I decided they were too hard to do engine work on (makes me wonder why I bought the MR2, lol).

No joke, the 300zx engine is terrifying lol. I'm lucky to have smaller hands, makes it a bit less horrid. I loved my SVX to death. That was such a beautiful car. I rebuilt my tranny twice, 2nd time I put in an external tranny cooler and sold due to being a college student and not having the time to do a lot of the stuff I wanted. Really wanted to Turbo or Supercharge it, but the timing wasn't good for it.
So why I got a 300zx, who knows. Why I'm looking at MR-2's...another mystery. I guess I love difficult cars. Their all just so hot though I can't help it. |

) so I wouldn't be fixing it every couple of months. I need to sell the SVX to pay back my loan, but the market value just isn't what I hoped for so it sits waiting for someone desperate.Sometimes I really miss the winter driving capabilities of the SVX here in PA; that thing was an absolute tank in a good snowstorm! With a Phantom Grip LSD in the front diff and winter tires on all four corners snow didn't phase her one bit! I don't miss needing to jack up the front end a bit and using 3 feet of extensions to do spark plugs though, especially with the frequency I would have been doing them with a turbo kit on there. After I got the MR2 the SVX stopped breaking all the time for the most part. Had to replace the PS cooler back in January but beyond that she's running fine and reliable now. Figures... I got lucky with my MR2. A dealership near my parent's house got a relocated Cali 91 turbo in mid-2006 and still had it for sale around Christmas, so I got a loan from my grandparent's and haggled them down from $10k to $8.5k. Could have done better if I'd been able to walk away from it, but it was just in too good of condition. Totally stock, rust free, just about perfect. Ah well, I got it, I love it, I don't regret it one bit ![]() Good luck with your search Jordan. I know there are cheaper examples of ones in the condition mine was in to be found outside of dealers. |

Where is smokey point? Never heard of it, but I've seen some of those adds, I just get skeptical of really High mileage vehicles. I know that under 100k is hard to come by, but I was hoping to find one. I'm so tempted to get one of them.
Yakima isn't far, I'll half to check that out. Thanks a lot man. You're pulling all the weight here! ![]() |
