MR2 upgrade
Hello to all, I am a new member of the forum and I hope, soon to be MR2 owner.
Which leads me to my first question. I am looking at a 1991 MR2 which has had a 1994 Turbo engine dropped in to replace the original 2.2L. Are there any potential problems to watch out for with this switch, or is it seamless? And second, the owner had replaced the original turbo with a T3T4. He is waiting for the boost controller, so the car is not operational at the moment. I've owned plenty or Toyota's, but no turbos. Some of what i have read suggests the T3T4 is considerably larger than the stock turbo. Any problems to watch our for? Any feedback would be welcome. TS |

Unfortunately when you're talking about a swap of this scale there is no such thing as "always" or "seamless". If the PO did a good job with the swap and has worked out the kinks himself then you're probably pretty safe. If he didn't and hasn't then you could be in for a heapin' helpin' of automotive misery. I would *not* buy the car until you've had a chance to test drive it.

make sure to ask for a carfax report before you buy the car you don't what to find out later that it was in a front end crash & you what to install a after market bumper but won't fit because there was frame damage.ask the owner lots of questions, look for body damage, check the interior ect
