new to the mk1

I am going to buy a mk1 and am new to the forums. long story short, id love some advice on some of its issues. i plan on restoring it so if anyone has any ideas please post. money and time isn't so much a problem.

Its seen better days but it runs strong. i am planning on getting a complete engine swap as this has 200k on it. this one will hold for now but i am not sure how much longer. any other advice would be apreciated. thank you for looking and for your advice.

Welcome. Can't really comment too much on restoration. Take an inventory of what the car needs and then prioritize. There are different approaches but my vote would be body work last...that way the engine / chasis work doesn't mess up a new paint job.

Looks like you have solid car to start with...not sure how extensive the rust is. Before I got too deep into engine / chasis work I'd definitely make sure you don't have a serious rust problem.

the 2 spots seem to be the main rust. i will get the guy to jack it up to check the underbody for rust but i wasn't seeing anything when i went out there. i could be wrong tho...

and as for priority, its been sitting for 2 years so a friend of mine told me to get the engine flushed of all the fluids inside of it as priority number 1. from then on if the engine is still ok, i'll run it for a bit till i replace the other parts. once i get it running in nice condition i will eventualy drop a whole new engine and maybe even tranny. i haven't bought this lil guy yet but he wants 1200 and thats what kbb is telling me.
