I remember when I first saw that sleek gleem of black, oozing so much cool it deserved to be parked INSIDE the dealorship front and center, and since then I've yearned.
Back then, my parents were much wiser than me (ok, they still are ) and they were able to convice me it was not a practical car for a teenager, and I couldn't really afford it at that point anyhow.Fast forward 15 years, and although I didn't get that same Black Turbo Charged version I first fell in love with in 1994, here I am in my 30's and a stoked owner of my first MR2!! My criteria were simple, T-top, manual trans, second gen that was cheap enough to buy outright, so this is what I ended up with: 1991 Black NA with 230K+, still hella fun to drive, but needing lots of love! I welcome the challenges I am about to undergo while I attempt to restore this beauty back to it's rightful glory!! Now, to figure out this picture posting thing.......... ![]() Last edited by matzke; 06-14-2009 at 09:20 AM. Reason: try adding pic |

I was told the exact same things and brought an MR2 anyway. It is impractical, high maintenance and unsafe by modern standards...........but...it goes fast
![]() And Denz you got your car painted? Got any pics up anywhere? I would come and look but I am maxxed out with exams right now and am trying desperately not to get distracted. That said they are over soon. |

Congrats to you on your car
I see VA still uses the white / red cardboard license plates. Do they still charge property taxes on vehicles as well? |

I thought so. I left the D.C. metro area in 1997 and wasn't sure if they still did. When I had a black twin turbo fully loaded 1991 300ZX, my property taxes on that biatch was about $800 a year.
