Newbie Intro

Hey ---

Sorry if this gets kinda sappy, but hey this is me!

As a Service manager for a 12 bay indie repair store for 18 years (in past life) I know a bit about cars.
It's been a while, but hey I am showin' my age.
We were mainly a Porsche store but did our fair share of yota work.
That said, the MR2 cars that came through were new at the time and I loved them!

But I was a true Porsche man -- one of my mechanics was an old cuss named Rusty-- him and me were always gettin' into it, but not in a nasty way === "where's your flag sheet Rusty? " == and I would always find him another hour or 2... " why don't you get yourself an dependable SUPRA Richard ? he would say ...
"GET YOUR ASS TO WORK I would tell him!!! ....

Well, Rusty had some really rough times, and not long thereafter Rusty died.

Damned if I wasn't the one that got his Chilton Manuals and all his labor guides, and I still think about the jokes we played on each other to this very day!
You should have seen when he found out that it was me that put that worm in his coffee that morning!!! hehehehh
HE did get me back though !!!

Here's to you Russell Humphrey = You old goat !!!

So now I drive an old beater Celica and am looking for an MR2 MK1 --- and found this site ! Thanks for the welcome !

Times and life changes ---

I am still a 911 man at heart, but times and priorities change ---

Thanks for listening !

Richard

Yea --- I know, but at this point I am in the process of buying a home so I want to get into a cheapie MK1.....

Some guy has an MK1 locally that I am going to go look at tomorrow, but it sounds kind of off --- japanese motor, been stored for a long time, recent water pump -- I know enough to not get stuck and I don't think this guy did a cool system bleed proper etc .....

dont need to buy another's probs .... what's the deal with the japanese engine swaps --- he couldnt even tell me the engine family ...

BTW thanks for the welcome !

Nice folks here !!!

Ehh --- I dunno if it's gonna be that one --- but you betcha I will be postin pics of the one I buy.

Damn I was up in the air about what to buy --- now I guess I am gettin locked in .... and that's a good thing!

Kind of concerned about costs though, cause my house deal won't go through for a bit and if I DO need any repairs I can't work on the car where I live now so concerned about MR2 labor costs being higher because mid engine -- if I have to pay a shop --- guess I need to dig Rusty's Chilton's out !!! And find a knowledgeable shop locally ---

Sorry for making a book out of my welcome, but just thinking out loud after a night of a few cold ones.
