New MisterTwo
Hey all.
I just bought my first MR2. It's a '91 N/A with t-tops, aquamarine pearl. I found it (after nearly ten months of searching), totally by happenstance, in someone's front yard, half-buried in tall grass, all abandoned and rundown and lonely-looking. The guy who owned it didn't know enough to put the battery in straight. Literally. He let go of it cheap because it wouldn't start reliably and his wife (the primary driver) was nervous about it. The car needed a new fuel pump (which he didn't know), but he thought there was a "dead spot in the starter." Then he fried the 120 amp fusible link when he installed the battery backwards, so it wouldn't start at all. I replaced the pump and the link, and she roared back to life. So I got a perfectly serviceable project exotic, half off! Sometimes, I love my luck. ![]() Anyway, I'm glad to be here and I look forward to getting to know the community. Thanks! ![]() Last edited by Archidamus-R; 07-23-2009 at 05:27 PM. |

Thanks for the warm welcome.
Good to meet everyone! I'll be happy to try and snap some pics tomorrow, but be warned: the paint looks like it's sat in someone's yard for five years. >.< Lol. I think most of it can be prepped, some basecoat touch up, then a nice topcoat, but the roof is pretty well ruined . . . :/ |

Sounds great. And pics please! Aquamarine pearl was the color of my dad's MR2 when I was 7, so it's a very special color to me, and I just love every MR2 in AMP. It could be rusty, not run, and I would still love it.
Welcome! ![]() |

Lol, thank you. It's a magnificent color.
And only tiny, tiny amounts of rust. But now that I've resurrected it, it runs like it just rolled off the show-room floor! And there are Ferraris that don't sound as sweet. ![]() |

Ok, here are a few pics of my project. It's got some rough edges, but all things considered, I think it's a pretty good starting point.
![]() Edit: It downsized the pics pretty bad when I uploaded them..... It looks shinier in person. The parts of it that are shiny, at least. ![]() |

Thank you! I'll put some type of spoiler back on there, yes. Mebbe the stock one. It's a bit beat up, and it leaked.
I like the looks of the Tom's style spoiler too, though . . .Nice nose badge, Yellow, BTW. That's exactly what I want on the front of mine. ![]() |

Found a pic. I also found an image of the Tom's Spyder . . . I like its wing, too . . .
I've seen the badges on there. I'm going to wait until I get my suspension freshened up and determine if my car needs a new nose, lol. Thanks though. ![]() |

Welcome... I had an AMP car for about two months... found out it had been flooded and let it go. Kinda hate I let it go, but oh well. I'm kinda stuck on the mk1 anyway, but it is a really nice color on them!

Thanks. I'm really happy I found it.
It looks pretty incredible when the sun hits it; brilliant green highlights, purple shadows . . . Wicked. I like Mk1's too. I'll be looking for one of those next. ![]() I'm in Missouri, BTW. |
