Exclamation Im having problems with my 1987 mk1 MR2

Hello everybody. Im Emanuel and i recently just bought a 1987 Mr2 as my first car. I love it however I have been driving it and have a slight problem. When I drive my car it begins to sputt on me and then it kicks in and goes faster. Would anybody happen to know the reason for the sputting and if I need to get some work done what would need to be done?

Sputtering reply.

Hi Manny

New Owner huh? Congradualtions!

Now it's time to get to work to fix this car.

Your symptom(s) is not that easy to pin down and involves chasing various systems and a check of the computer recording of problems.

Attached is Page FL-19 of your service manual outlining what items to check for engine hesitation.

Don't be overwhelmed, this is a one at a time deal. Take your time and be through.

Drop a email address at my PM if you need some basic questions addressed and I'll do my best to help another mr2 brother.

Were you given a maint records for this car? If so, this may help with eliminating any potential problems areas that do not require checking.

Has your "check engine light" come on?

fuel filter is a cheap replacement and could possibly be your problem.
