Hello from Hoosier Land

Hey everyone. New to the forum, new to owning an MR2. Just picked one up today. It's a basket case motor but the body/interior are in great shape for an '86 model year. If anyone has any "heads-up" for me on the rebuild, please let me know. I plan on posting up some pics as the project progresses.

Hi - Gotta give you credits for taking on a basket project.
Makes me feel lucky for getting a good runner w/o spending an arm and a leg.
Keep us "abreast" of your MR2 "fun".

Congrats on picking up a good bodied mk1. Have you thought about swapping in a different engine like a 20v blacktop or silvertop?

thanks guys, I'm honestly just looking at options right now. I'm getting ready to lay out all the parts to see where I stand with what I have vs what I would need. Looking into a j/y motor too.
Issuses I know of...
At least two of the pistons need replaced.
Need to check on the crank and rod journals to check to see how true they are.
Depending on above, find out what bearings I'll need/machine work done.
Gaskets and seals as needed

Hey. I live in Rosedale. Own 2 2nd Gen MR2's.

One built turbo, the other is an NA minus engine/tranny.

Not too many MR2 guys around.
