new from mary-land
hi everybody. i was looking for a nice fun car and had forgotten about the mr2. i was thinking about how much fun just a mk1 n/a mr2 was. but a friend doesn't think i'd fit in one anymore, lol. anyway, i started looking into them more and came across a reference to a v6 mr2 swap. this piqued my interest and i have decided that this is what i need. however, i am in the middle of another engine swap project ( saab turbo 4 into a merkur xr4ti) so my mr2 dreams will have to wait till that's done. in the mean time i hope to fit in here and adsorb as much info on the v6 swap as i can. so far i've decided that the 1mz-fe from a 2000-2003 avalon is what i need. knowing how well that thing pulls in mom's avalon, i can only imagine how much fun it would be in a car that weighs 1000 pounds less.
oh yeah, i should probably define my idea of fun, since everyone has their own ideas of what makes them giggle like a school girl. it would have to be a car that has enough torque to put you back in your seat and make you have the same face as the chick in the pink s2000 in the beginning of fast and furious two when she jumped the bridge, however, not too much that if you even look at the gas pedal you loose traction and spin out. i'm not looking for a numbers car, or in other words something that makes 5 million horse power at 90,000 rpm but has 10 foot pounds of torque. so a stock 1mz-fe with vvt-i in an mr2 would probably fit the bill to a T. ian |
