Meh, what's up doc?

Hey everybody. The name is Ben and I just got my first MR2. Basically only got it because it's not modified in any way and I need a vehicle to bring with me to Cali when I move over. I ended up trading my 91 Legacy Sport for it. I miss that car but oh well. I honestly like the MR2 for the weight and the platform. Use to own an 86 AE86 and loved the motor in that. But when I get over to the west side I'll be swapping in the GZE motor. Just right now I'm going to be fixing up the body and motor. Already have the gaskets and seals. Just waiting for a day or two off to do them. Any who enough about the car. Make to me. I currently live in Middle TN near KY. Work as a tech for Sears. When I started there one of the techs told me " welcome to the worst job of your life." Really wish he was joking but he wasn't. I went through about 9 cars so far and the MR2 will be the tenth. I have a restricted license but only for about another 5 months. Too many points on the record . I'm not a bad drive I just know where I'm going and I'll like to get there . Oh yea, I'm 25 too and I love to work on electrical stuff. Well, if any questions just ask.

Hey there Ben. What year is your 2 ?
"I went through about 9 cars so far and the MR2 will be the tenth."
What happened to those cars, were they beat to begin with, or did you just tear them up ? Anyway good luck w/ the 2, and keep her on da road !

The MR2 is an 1988.

The list of Cars and story's XD

First was a 96 Sebring convertible. Don't know what I was think. But it had a drop top. Gave that to the ex.
Second is a 05 Corolla XRS. First car I actually got into with Modding. Traded it in for the SRT-4.
Third was a 00 Celica GT-S. Bought for the ex. I ended up with it when she went into the Air Force.
Forth was the 88 Camaro. First car that I got for the ex. She ended up not liking the problems she had to fix on it so I sold it.

As you can tell the order is all messed up but the list continues XD

5th was a 86 corolla GT-S. Wanted to put a small block in it but ended up trading for a 88 Rx-7 GXL.
6th was a 88 Rx-7 GXL. That was the funnest high revving car I had. I slammed it into first on the interstate and it still kept going. the second gear topped out at 70mph. Sold it for 2200 to pay my tool bill.
7th car was a 04 STI. Loved that car to death. Took everything I threw at it. It's just bald tires and wet grass was my demise. Ended up rolling the car a couple times. That was a fun night.
8th car was a 91 Legacy Sport. Was hoping that the insurance company could have hold on to the STI for one more week but it was sold at auction. So the drive train never go to be put into the legacy. But it was sold on ebay by the people who bought it at auction.
9th car was the 92 corolla. Just bought it just in case the motor rebuild on the legacy blew up in my face. The Legacy was rolling strong so the corolla was sold for 500 bucks. Lost 100 off of that but it's all good.
10th is the MR2. Traded the Legacy for it because I'm going to be heading over to Cali for Culinary Arts. The Subaru was just to heavily modified to bring over with me. The MR2 is like a clean slate but with bondo.

So I think I covered all the vehicles. I left one out because it wasn't technically mine. Me and my dad was the only ones who drove it because no one else trusted it. It was a 91 Hyundai Excel. Pretty much I had it all the time till my sister started to drive. Then she took my dad's truck and I bought the Sebring. Dad ended up with the Excel. The car was hella insane. Fished tailed it 9 straight times with no hand brake down a road. Recovered and kept on rolling.

I'm looking for an ae86. Found a shell for $400 then the seller never got back and delete the ad. I emailed the day it went up too so I dont know. If I sell one of my mk1's off I'll start looking for a gts so I can swap the 20v into. Anyways, welcome to the forums.

Appreciate the welcome. Which body version are you looking for? The coupe or hatch? I had a coupe just because I didn't like how the hatch looks like. Main reason why I didn't bother to get another STI. The newer hatch design makes the car feel too big. Also, silver or black top? Good luck with finding a good AE86 to have fun with

mr21998cc,

Yea Sears isn't that bad, but.. And this is a big ass but. Yesterday I did a job that was supposed to pay 4 hours in labor plus an alignment job. What happen you might ask? They only charged 80 dollars in labor for the front struts to be installed, 50 dollars for the rears, and warrantied the alignment. I would have made 100 off that job if I was still at Midas but I only made about 20 I think. But that's Sears for you. When you become a Tech 2+, I'm a Tech 3 right now, look into Alldata for the labor amount. Sears is supposed to charge book time but they will charge whatever to get business.....Or at least my store does . I'm just holding on to this job till I get to Cali. Then I'll transfer, go to school, and go become a Chef. Love to wrench on anything but my passion is cooking XD.

YELLOW_MR2,

Pictures will be coming. Just have to wait till it stops raining, love the rain, so the camera doesn't breaks. Yea the AE86 cars are fun. Accidentally miss shift it on the interstate. The tach maxed out, motor screaming, and it didn't blow up. Yamaha sure do make some tough motors . Of course they are fun drifting too

I like the hatch. I'm doing the silvertop on my mr2 and depending on how that goes will result in my next project.
