Hello from Alabama
Good Morning!
First off, I am not an MR2 owner. My main reason for joining the site is the project I am working on. Currently I am building a mid/rear motor car using a turbo charged Geo Metro 3 cyl 1.0 liter engine. 149 hp and getting between 63-68 mpg, depending on how I ran the motor. (Hollow tube frame 2 seater weighing in at 840 lbs) I built the first prototype using a mid 80s MR2 5 speed tranny and it was very nice but I has since been looking for something else. It is not how I want it to be in a finished state but getting the balance between power and economy took some time and I think I have got that part down. I have been searching to find a place to get a 6 speed manual tranny and thought since the Lotus uses the Toyota motor and has a 6 speed that the MR2 might also. The more I look the more that looks unlikely. I will be doing some more looking and see what I can dig up. I hope to get some advice from those that know more than I in the drive train area. The framing was easy, the power plant has been a bit more difficult. Matthew |
