New here and wanted to say hey!!

Greetings ladies (if there are any here) and gentlemen. Just wanted to say hello. As the title says, I am new to this board. I came from the Supra world (8years in it alone) and several years in the RX7 world too. I just recently aquired a 91 T-top turbo that has a Gen 3 swap done and somewhat upgraded (but not correctly to say the least)....

Hope to learn much about the MR2's beyond what I already know and help others in area's that I have extensive knowledge in (such as brake system design and engineering, welding and fab (being that that is my daily job for the last 10years) and so on....)

Welcome! I had a supra for a few months... fun car but heavy. I still want another one for cruising around town/trips sometime down the road. My buddy drag raced an RX7 for years. You'll enjoy your MR2 once you get things straightened out!

Yeah, Supra's are heavy. I did a 1uz V8 swap in mine which helped the weight issues a tiny bit. The nice part is it made for a great DD car. Had power from idle to just shy of redline. The V8 made it a breeze an joy to drive as a DD... As for my past RX7's, I've had all 3gen's and all of them were set up as Track Day car's... I've never been a big fan of drags cause anyone can go fast in a straight line. To me, its how fast can you go around the turns that brings thrill and excitement. I've spent many weekends down in Sebring and a few in Moroso, Homestead and at Road Atlanta.... I miss my Rex's but I know that the MR2 has good potential as a track day car.

Oh snap! You're close by. I'm in New Port Richey. Post some pics up, maybe I've seen your car around.

I'll post some when I get some time. I doubt you've seen the car around as its only been in FL for about 4 months at best. I got it from a guy / girl 2 weeks ago that got it from a guy in TX about 3 or 4 months ago. They got it and then realized that they were getting in over there head so they decided to get rid of it.

It needs paint and body work bad but there are other things I have to attend to before worrying about P&B work. Like for one, Its got a turbonetics 62-1 turbo on it and well it cant spool it to save its life. It also has a TMIC but they never vented it so after a short while of driving it, the intercooler becomes and interheated (if you know what I mean)..... At least the basic gen3 swap was fairly cleanly done but the rest of the work was kinda shotty... The Guy spent money, just on the wrong equipment and didn't finish what he started....

Somethine that I found out today is it at one point ripped out both of the front swaybar to frame mounts (which I understand is a fairly common problem with the MKII's) so there is no front swaybar on it at all.. Luckly and thankfully I am a welder and fabricator by trade so fixing it and building to be far beyond Toyota's short comings in that area wont be too much of a problem....
