Talking Finally got it / Lowest kms ?

hi everyone,

Well i've wanted one for 5 years and now i've finally got it.

Couldn't be happier with the deal I got too. I'm from Canada where we can import overseas vehicles if they are >15 years old so I got a RHD MR2 from Japan for about half the cost of buying a Canadian one. It's a 1990 hardtop turbo and its only got 50,000 km (30,000 miles) on the odometer (i believe its accurate based on seat wear, paint condition, tire condition, etc.)

This is the lowest milage i've seen except for one that was on sale on autotrader in California that never left the dealer lot. I was just wondering how many other low milage 2's there are out there?

I should mention that mine won't have low kms for long though

There's lots, especially Japanese imports.

Nothings better than a low milage MR2. Did you import it yourself? What were the final costs? I imported a LandCruiser last October (I'm in BC).

Let's see some pics!

EDIT:

Your car qualifies for the low milage registry I've created! Make a post in it by following the format used in the other post. As for your car, use the Canadian Assigned VIN, and the Japanese Chassis code... the last 6 numbers or so are probably the same in both

Cool I'll post on the registry (and here) once i take some pics. I'll probably do that tonight.

I didn't import it myself, I bought it from somebody who already did that a year ago. I actually got it for $8200 (CAD) because the guy really needed money. Man, if he only knew how much he could've got for it

About the VIN, its still an 11 digit japanese VIN? Was a new one supposed to be assigned when it got imported? That's even what the VIN on the ownership says? Can I get it changed somehow, because right now I have to get facility insurance on it since they can't enter that VIN into the computer so I might be able to get an insurance break if I could get a 17 digit VIN.

$8200 is about right. Canadian cars sell for much more than Japanese ones in Canada. Regardless, $8200 is one hell of a buy for what you got. I wish I could have jumped on it

As for the VIN, things are different province to province. In BC, the cars are assigned with a new 17 digit code. If you're registered, insured and driving, I wouldn't worry about it. The insurance place should be able to assign you a new one, I'd imagine.

Is insurance in Ont. government run or private?

Yeah after I posted I realized that it would be different in BC. Its private owned here. My insurance company actually mentioned something about talking to the ministry of transportation to see if i could get the VIN changed but said they weren't sure if i'd be able to or not. I'm writing midterms at school right now (University of Waterloo) so I don't have a lot of time to look into it at the moment.

Here in Ontario $8200 is a great deal for such low kms. I could probably turn around and sell it for $12-13,000 right now if I wanted to. But i would rather just keep the car.

(p.s. no picks yet)
